Multi Logging

The use of multiple computers, virtual machines, or instances for the purpose of running more than one character simultaneously is expressly PERMITTED on NS4, although there are some guidelines for this type of play:

  • PvE: There are no limitations to the amount of characters you may run simultaneously. This can be in a private (self) group, or with other individuals in an open group.
  • PvP: Multi-logging during PvP is expressly NOT PERMITTED. The spirit of PvP is Player vs Player, and when a player controls more than one toon, there is an unfair advantage in play. When in doubt, never attack another player using more than one character that you control, regardless of if you are the aggressor or defender. This includes open world PvP as well as Factional Relic warfare. For complete safety, the best option is to log off all but one character if any engagement begins, although it is understood that it is not necessary for you to log off toons in this matter at the first sight of another player. Use your best judgement.
    • Multi-logging is having more than one character logged-in simultaneously, regardless of whether one or more characters is standing by idle, on a different map, or engaging. PvP should be limited to a single player vs single player.
    • Reports of PvP while Multi-logging will be investigated. Any false claims by either aggressor or defender, or any shenanigans to try to "gotcha" a Multi-logged player by trying to engage more than one of their toons, then crying foul, will be dealt with harshly. Players have differing definitions of how to enjoy the game, and trying to manipulate any system to sabotage another player into a premise of breaking a rule will not be tolerated.
    • Similarly, abuse of multi-logging for PvP will not be tolerated. Although the practice of multi-logging is acceptable, it also demands a higher level of responsibility by players using this system. As an extreme example, it should not be expected to be allowed to buff your fighter/monk/WM with a dual-logged cleric, then log that cleric off and send your melee into PvP battle. This is the type of grey area that requires the player to use their best judgement and follow the safe route.

As with all rules and moderation, DM discretion is absolute.
