Guys be extra careful 2 accounts at least were logged into tonight and the person doing it even threatened to kill my toon if I didn't "shut up" as he put it. CD lock your accounts if you relaxed some on it. Hopefully the IP can be banned from the server.

This has been happening again to some friends of mine and to me too. Items and books are disappearing. One of my toons was stripped of all worn gear. I've been told that none of the remaining dm/dev staff knows how to look into this matter. Is this true?

They can figure it out but I'm around to ask. Takes a few minutes, and I can write some fill in the blank sql queries for them.

Are we any more secure on this subject? I've been playing some more lately but don't want to bother leveling any new toons because I'm pretty sure anyone who feels like it will just log my accounts on and sift through the gear when I'm not at home. Sure I can lock my accounts, but what about guild mules? Those are open for anyone to log, and I'd really like to have some amount faith in something here. Can I count on any level of help or security moving forward? If it were 1 or 2 books, I'd just believe that I had misplaced them or used on another toon, but this was about 5 +4 books and a few boxes of +2s (enough to make me quit and not bother with the server for almost 2 years) all missing from 1 main toon I collected books on. Was months of collecting wasted. Will more than 0 effort be put in to help us?

Not likely. You want a key update just ask, but don't see that we can easily do much more.

It's pretty hard for us to do much here.

Having said that, what kind of things would help? Would something like a password (30s to type /password LokeyLovesHalfElves or booted) be a win? I think there'd still be concerns with being able to drop items, but then at least we maybe have options like e.g. logging the failed password attempts.

Only on accounts that are /disablesecurity 'd. Accounts with cdkey active shouldn't have this requirement.

Right, it'd be an optional thing you'd have to set.

I can't offer any guarantees as to efficacy, but I can try and add something like this.

Cut-scene mode in the loading area makes it tricky to do input there, but leaving cut-scene means items can disappear even if no one gets them. Maybe a pin number there's 8 options in the token scripting? Conversation still takes keyboard number entry so it wouldn't be bad to use. But tricky to write and test and that's time that could be spent doing something interesting.

I couldn't help frendel last time because of lag-time until I got the info, logs had rotated out. I added that one for archive so less of a problem now. Would be no problem except I forget the zgrep arguments :)
