We're currently on beta patch 9, which could be the 2nd to the last beta before 1.69 is released. The change log is getting shorter and shorter...*drools* ...now down to about 4 items. We're getting close, folks. I'm thinkin' a release of April 1st.

Bioware forum topic can be found here: http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic ... 0&forum=42.

That is all,

You would think they would pick another day besides April Fools Day. If that is indeed the day.

lol april 1st..... gotta remember to play some trix on people @ work..

I can't wait either!! I want to see the new areas/mobs and tilesets in ns4, I've played with them enough offline to expect great things to come!

Any hints on the NS4 status with riding horses??

Hence the winky face.
I tossed that out there simply because the last couple betas have been out for a couple weeks, and if this one were the last, or even second-to-last because the change log is so short, that might put the official release date at the first day of Q2 '08, or April Fool's Day.

...Still, if it's not out then I expect Craig and Brian to say SOMETHING to yank our chain...like "the 1.69 patch is cancelled, Brian got fired so we can't finish it. So long and thanks for all the fish..."

I've been staying clear of the betas because I am lazy and don't want to roll back patches.

I would suggest video drivers, I was having the same problem with NS4.

If drivers were updated, post something on the Bioware forums; I'd bet someone has addressed this already.

yeah.. crappy video drivers or video cards can do it.

I have no problems @home on XP my 2900 or even my laptop, but on a crappy Vista computer with on-board video I see the textures totally vanish sometimes, mostly in the toolset - in the game testing the module looks ok for the most part.

As far as horses... I want horses in NS4, and I'd like to see them in some capacity. I honestly haven't played around with them much so I'm not sure how. I think its something that's too cool to pass up. This is a my personal view, and the staff really hasn't landed on anything official yet.

In my opinion the big thing for 1.69 is OnPlayerChat though... I'm really excited about that. Allows us to script custom commands... many of which will be DM-only, but some handy stuff for players as well. So for example, a player might be able to type "/roll d20" or "/deathexpress" or something like that... also text can be put into a hotkey slot so you don't have to type it everytime.

Besides just convenience functionality, there's going to be a new scripted feature, that if everything goes well should be really popular.

Will 1.69 require a server wipe? I think I saw this question before, but can't be sure. Anyways, just curious.

I'm not sure how the Ride skill works, so it may or may not matter on that front. Mounted Combat/Archery will be feats that nobody has probably figured into their builds...meh, I really think it would just be an opportune time more than anything else.

I'm looking forward to tridents.
I'm looking forward to PDK.
I'm looking forward to new critters to crit.

And seriously...
Long Coats. :D
The. End.

Not necessarily, although some characters may become invalid due to enforcing rules that weren't previously enforced. Also no players currently have any mounted combat feats or ride skill.

From the test module for horses that someone posted on nwvault - the horse mounting/dismounting wasn't very graceful, but the actual riding and fighting from horseback IS quite cool.

you need ride skill points to take the mounted feats;
'mounted combat' for melee combat
'mounted archery' requires 'mounted combat'

Not sure about casting from horseback, haven't tried it yet but that might look cool, especially if your horse is buffed up too ;].

One really cool PvP aspect that could come of horses would be JOUSTING! Looks like it could be fun.

OnPlayerChat <--- can auto kick for bad language now
Going to have to keep an eye out for the funny spellings too!
