Character Issues on aftermath of east bug?

as we all know (or should know) that east got nice bug awhile back. after that was dealt with, ive noticed that many of my toons loaded with gear i want back became... invalid, i guess, to play. Is this due to the server bug? and is there a way i can recover the gear, or do i have go farming again? im hoping that they're still somehow accessible since there still in the server vault, but i dont know.
