Zing'S Dojo Blues

I was recently turned on to Zing Dojo, what a great resource. I have made a mod on my own computer to just the same thing but his is better cause he has all items and a test G2 dragon, good job to Zing.
Unfortuinately he doesn't have all items, mainly because I don't think he knew how to make them.
What I wanted to test is what happens to the Ammy you get for being a paladin when you reach level 40 paladin? I heard ot gets better as you get higher in level and I can't test it unless I make one in game. Has someone out there made a paladin and used this item. Is it good or not so good?
Also, I was wondering about Epic summoning spells. Last I heard they were not changed to reflect the module. Has this changed? Is epic Dragon worth it now?
What about the animal domain and summon IX? Still a dragon? Still weak or much more useful?
Palemaster summons?
Shadow Dancer summons?
Black Guard summons?
I could be wrong, but I don't think Zing has this in his module, the scripts that is. I also didn't see Starfall gear, perhaps I missed it?
Don't get me wrong, great resource, and saves the DM tons of stupid questions, like can you take a level away from me? Just don't think I can test these things there.
Anyopne have answers for me?

At the moment the summons are mostly worthless. If you're looking for a summon that can take a beating, get your hands on some starfall gauntlets (or for mid-levels, try the woodland gauntlets).

Okay, thanks for the info. I recently just got a pair of the Starfall guantlets, took me 14 tries to get the right drop, but persisance pays off ;p
Are there going to be plans to increase the summons at a later date?
What about the Paladin ammy you get from temple were you are rezed at? The one for Paladins. That, to my nowledge has nothing to do with summons, something about beefing up the paladin based on level. Can you offer any insight to that? That was the main reason to my inquiry.
Thanks in advance for you insight information

I'm entertaining the idea of scaled summons depending upon the level of the user. However, real life circumstances (new baby in the house) prevents me from sitting down for any longer than 5 or 10 minutes at a time in front of the computer! For now, Pros and I are leaving the summons as they are. Playing with all the summons is something we've thought about tho. Its on our list of "interesting things to do."

Congradulations on the new edition. My child is partially why I took time off from NS too. They are fun and exciting, but you will never have the same free time as you did before. Wait until they walk, then you are in for trouble
Can you offer insight into the Paladin Ammy please? The way it was explained before, and by before I mean before Epic came out (that dates me

), was that you got bonuses based on your paladin level. Can you break it down a bit more than that simple answer please?

Hi Guys,
I stopped updating the Dojo when I became a Developer on the NS4 Team. This means that any of the gear which was added to NS3.5 in the last 4 months or so is not available in the Dojo.
Please understand that the Dojo was reasonably controversial when it was launched and in the interest of ensuring there can never be any misunderstanding about confilicts of interest the Dojo is now provided "as is".
The lack of a few items should not really make a massive difference in my opinion. However if there is a couple of items that you feel really make a difference to the way you can test a build let me know and I'll think about a small update.
Cheers

I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I usually map out all of my characters in an excel spreadsheet instead of just building them and figuring out what does/does not work. I have developed my spreadsheet to autocalculate a good deal of info and have a place that calculates AB/HP/Abilities. Some of the information you have to know from building characters in the past, but if you are on this server for any length of time, you already know this info.
Mapping your characters will let you know for sure EXACTLY when to take what feat and skills/etc. It also will give you a print out of your character so u don't make any toon ending mistakes at say..level 33 or so.
In any case, I have tried planning characters through leveling up in NWN and on paper. It is much easier to get things right on paper (excel substituting for paper, of course). Some builds are easy and relatively straight forward (say a straight class Fighter for instance), others are fairly complicated and can be ruined with one messed level (like a 50% Self-Concealed Ftr/Monk/WM). Just trying to pound this build out in the dojo might leave you pounding your head against the wall...but on a char map, you will avoid all that. In any case, I would like to offer my character map spreadsheet to anyone who would like to use it. Ideally, I can hang it somewhere if anyone has a spot available. I have the spreadsheet available for download on my guild's website, but I just asked for permission to post the link here and the site owner has not had a chance to respond to me yet. When he does, I'll update this post wih the link.
UPDATE: I have permission to link to the files from here:
http://www.dreamnetstudios.com/public/CharMap.xlt
http://www.dreamnetstudios.com/public/e ... F-WM-M.xls
The first is the template to create the toon map. The second is an example for you to look at so I can avoid endless questions on what each field does. The template is protected to prevent you from accidentally changing something you shouldn't. The password is my username: Razarr69
In case you want to unlock the document. If you do find mistakes or make some useful changes, send me a PM, I'd like them too!

If interested before I post the link, let me know and i can email you a copy directly.
I concur, if you would e-mail me a copy, I would like that very much. I write erverything out ever since I thought I took blindfighting as a pre-epic DD and didn't catch my error until level 40

Good to see ya working on 4.0, I liked 4.0, but didn't like the guilds (made partying with friend hard) and I didn't like the PVP (way too much random killing for me).
Anyway, yes, I would like to test out a paladin and that ammy you get in the temple. I think you have a wonderful resource and if you could add in that ammy, if you have access to it, I would be grateful.
Thanks for your time,
Rocco

Personally, I would like to see the actual code that lies behind the amulet. I did not know it scaled with your paladin level. I just assumed it was a small benefit for new Paladins that you would eventually stop using (at lvl 1-4 it appears to just add 1d4 damage). If it does scale up, I'd be very interested in seeing the breakdown points (levels where additional bonuses are added). That way, I could better plan my Pally builds. I compiled the Bard Song table from the script that one of the DM posted and posted it so people could better plan their bards. If possible, and if the amulet scales up in power, a corresponding table for it would be good to have as well.
Come to think of it, what other class uber-ness affecting changes are out there that I'm missing? (like cleric buffs being undispelable at level 30...which is not the same as it is for magic users)

Well, that is how it was explained to me back in the pre-epic days by a DM and I don't see why it would change, but maybe it has. So, please don't hound me if I was mistaken
It would be nice if you do get a hold of it if you would post your findings.

Do you know it is level 30 for clerics when there spells are undispelable or is that speculation. As luck would have it, I was been kicking around a few ideas for cleric builds and I was wondering that very fact.
