Path of Strength quest broken

I haven't tried this since like last year but...
The first guy, you know the one, doesn't drop a sword anymore. He drops armor now. So you can't cash in at the hermit.
Guess I'll go do the Path of Wisdom instead :-/
Unless the sword has been moved somewhere....
Maybe I'm just sleep deprived. But I thought I remembered this first part being quick and easy.

not sure what you are getting at with such vague info but both str and wisdom quests work

ah, finally dropped the sword. used to be it dropped every time. but now it's random it seems.
or maybe I just did too much LDS in the 60's

the sword is pretty rare now a days.. i usually get 1 every 20 or so..

The sword was random on NS3. It just seems to be much more rare now than it was then.

The sword has always been random. Sometimes the random number generator hates you is all.

So, I broke the strength quest, I think.
I spoke and delivered all the needed items to the last hermit. He gave me his token and told me to seek out the Keeper. Just then, server reset. I figure, it's all cool.
So, I go to the Keeper and he boots me to South Tower. What'd I do? I still have the token, but none of the items that the last hermit took. So, do I have to do the last hermit again, or is something broken?

I think you need to go to the speaker first. Not the keeper.
