A month or so ago, there was some talk about a possible upgrade for strength builds.
Is this still something that is being considered? If so.. any timeframe?

as of yet I have not heard any talk about buffing strength builds. As of right now the Devs are still working hard on the rest of the new areas. There has been some new str build gear added but thats about it.

where has the STR build gear been added? cause ive been trying to decide on a dex DD build vs str.
If I knew that there was gear that made str builds just as good as dex builds, i wouldnt bother with dex build's ac bonus.

there is str gear throughout the mod in the new areas but the most important one i guess you would be building up to would be the starfall armor.

Also just to note, my Dex DD build uses the same level progression as my str and ends up with a higher ac and ab. So dex DD's are perfectly workable.

heh... I think that was the point of the post. Everyone is well aware that dex builds are viable. More than viable, they are simply superior. Thats why people are wondering about gear being added that might level the playing field a bit between dex and str builds.

I think all soak properties should be removed from any robes, and then scaled accordingly up to plate. Is this a posible start towards making a strength build more viable?
Or is the issue with the high ac? Not being able to hit them?

I have a few STR builds but mostly play casters and dex'ers. All my primary melee toons are Dex builds.
It would seem to me that an easy way to address the issue would be to reduce the damage on all of the Triton Finesse weapons.
If you are a STR build then you will do more damage now because of your weapon. If you are a Dex build you'll do less damage but will have the advantage of your AC to keep you alive. This is more the way a Dex build is intended to be.
The thing that makes the Dex build's better is the fact that the best weapons in the game all do the same amount of damage with the exception of crit range and the low insignificant base damage on the weapon itself.
If you were to adjust the finesse weapons then it would more correctly reflect what a strength fighter is suppose to mean to a combat situation over a Dex fighter. Not sure it lays in the armor itself so much because Dex fighters should be hard to hit. That is their benifit. Strength fighters should do more damage.

The flaw in that is that a str build can use a finess wep just as easily as a Dexer. As far as a str build is concerned, a Triton hand axe and a Triton Dwaven war axe are basicaly the exact same wepon.

That is correct. By lowering the Finesse Weapons damage though a STR build will use that Dwarven War Axe now and do more damage than a DEX build using the Hand Axe. Which makes sense. A Dwarven War Axe should out damage a little ole hand axe.

I would also argue that heavy armor should be able to soak more than lesser weight armors as well. I mean come on, full plate that only soaks +6/35 and robes that can do the same?
"Oh, but it's magic...." -- OK, well there is simply more full plate material to enchant, thus it should be able to hold more of that magic.

i would think that the benefit of a str over dex fighter, directly in relation to armor, would be the ability to "soak" more damage. a metal plate can take more damage that a robe. simple as that. i agree that the dexies should remain harder to hit because of a higher ac.
i also think, however, that str builds shouldnt necessarily be able to do more damage. especially with the finesse feat. part of "finesse" is being able to use your weapon with a maximum efficiency, thereby finding "weaker" spots on your opponent to do similar damage to the "unguided bashing" of a str build.
