Black screen after creation

I've made several characters to confirm this, and it seems to happen every time for me. After creating a character, I choose a subrace from the dialog selection(Fire Genesai), press enter, and end up at a black screen that won't move. However, when I made characters with no sub race, I could play just fine.

After a while of trying to find the problem, I ended up simply making a less desireable, non-subraced character.

I've had that prob too. Easy way around it. When you get tha "Black Screen" wait a few seconds then hit your "esc" key, you'll get the log out pop up screen.

End game and log back in on your new pc. You'll find yourself going through the rift without any problem from then on.

I've tried logging back into these characters many times, always a black screen unfortunately.

Try making the character with the chosen subrace at character creation, and passing through the ns4 dialog that comes up when you enter.

Works for me usually, but I haven't had problems in this regard.

Sounds like a video problem. I bet you have an ATI card. Turn off shiny water in video settings and see if that takes care of it.

It's not a video problem, I am playing now with a non-subraced character with max of every setting.

I've also tried typing the subrace at creation, didn't work either sadly.

1). Make sure a DM is on with your non-screwed-up character.
2). Log your screwed-up character.
3). Type /dm Hey! I've got a black screen, can you port me out of where I am stuck? I can't see anything! Help!

Generally if a DM ports you and just "moves" you to a different area, then back again, that should fix it. Just in my experience, though. Good luck!

What Blysto's says is 100% correct. Follow his advice when a DM is on and they will fix it.
