Reading a recently locked thread about factions and guilds, in which Amoenotep stated that tagged toons created when a guild was part of another faction should be deleted, made me remember why I hestitated to join a guild in the first place. Let's say you built 3 level 40 toons over the course of 4 months and then the guild one day moves to another faction. What an exercize in futility! Better name them all Sisyphus, in that case.
I would suggest that in such cases, some provision ought to be made to allow the player to "trade in" the XPs on these toons (perhaps at a fractional rate) and apply them to new toons in the new faction. Or maybe guilds should not be allowed to switch factions (like so many NFL teams, lol). If one could achieve level 40 in a week, there wouldn't be much of an issue. But that is not the case. Leveling on NS4 is the second slowest I have seen on any NWN server. It just seems like a huge disincentive to join guilds. Hopefully, IO will never move.

But were they not once in MA (if I correctly understood Ameonetep or whoever provided the guild history)? That's like the current Ravens owner promising Baltimore fans they will never move (after moving from Cleveland). Guild leaders come and go; what I'm proposing is some way to ensure guild members they won't lose their sometimes considerable investment in a particular guild.Deathdealers will always be in Shadow Legion.
