crafted silvery scythe: exact same as imbued adamantine

Post by disastro »

fyi the level 30 crafted scythe has identical stats to the imbued adamantine scythe (1d12 pierce, 2d12 slash, massive criticals 2d12). usually the crafted stuff has a small additional damage component over the generic version of the same.

the only difference here is crafted has 60% weight reduction, and costs 7500xp/250,000 gp.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to craft items like the scythe and [censored] swords when the IA are just about the same and cost a hell of a lot less.
I would really like to see the crafted items a little more customizable at those levels.
Say, being able to select a base damage die worth of elemental damage.
So a 1d6 slash would be able to choose 1d6 acid and so on and so forth.
Having X number of upgrade slots and then being able to fill them with effects of your choosing.
So a level 30 crafted [censored] sword might have 1d6 cold instead of pierce and 1d12 of acid and 1d12 slash instead of 2d12 slash or even lose a +1 for an additional die of damage.
And maybe lose the mass crit for another die worth of damage since the overwhelming crit is so seldom used.
I am not trying to go crazy on this stuff just change it up a little.

You're aware mass. crit. isn't only for overwhelming crit.? Probably yes.
Crit. range isn't that great for a scythe but with a mage (keen weapon, if it doesn't already have it) and WM ie., it is quite devastating.

The idea is interesting though. Giving a wider choice range in items is always welcome. But more work for the busy Devs too.

if i recall correctly the massive criticals property of a weapon actually overrides (and thus invalidates) the overwhelming crit feat.

so if you have overwhelming crit, and you use a weapon that has massive criticals as a property, the weapon's massive crit damage is used and your overwhelm crit feat is not applied at all.

also keen weapon spell does not stack with a weapon's keen property, so the keen spell loses all usefulness by level 16 (by which point all weapons in the game have keen, except for certain artifacts which get it before then and i believe some crafted weapons as well.)

the pick and choose damage sounds pretty cool but it sounds like a [censored] to code or create items for.

Well overwhelming really gets overridden by mass. crits. from weapon. Just checked it on a customized mod. Another well applied feature in the game by Bioware, go figure...

Is really almost every weapon keen at epic lvls? Never checked it, but you may be right. I sometimes would prefer more basic damage over keen though. :)

as far as i know every generic/artifact/named weapon in this mod useable at level 16 or later is keen.

it might be an interesting artifact "limitation" if there was some crazy high level weapon that DIDN'T have keen in exchange for something else cool (and since you cant stack keen/darkfire/flame weapon it would make it an interesting tradeoff).
