Gamma prob

Ok i updated my drivers and such to be able to run HL2 again. However, this somehow nullied the control i have over my gamma settings. Ive always played with the gamma set at max, just makes it easier to see everything.

However now the gamma slider dosnt affect anything at all. The low-brightness lvl stays, no matter how i try to adjust the slider.

Also, ive never been able to get my asus OSD to work either. A little program that supposedly pops up in game at my command and lets me adjust color settings while in-game.

If its any help, the card im using right now is a x700, and i just upgraded to the newest video drivers / catalyst control center.

Any idea's on how i can get control over my gamma settings back, preferably in-game? (besides reverting to my old driver set, which takes playing HL2 out)

thats wierd , one of the reasons i hate ati cards, i dont like their overall interface ....so having the older driver prevents you from playing HL2 ? how old was your other driver ?

and if i may note, i experinced a decrease in interface and preformance on many levels when i upgraded my nvidia drivers... the new nvidia driver caused Oblivion to run like CRAP .....and -- when i sent out s-video signals to my TV in the living room so my roomies and i can watch movies , it would send the image in a perma-widescreen format which was unchangable !
seems that older is better in some cases......i rolled my graphics drivers back and everything was working as it should be.....

odd that HL2 wont work - seeming that it isnt that new of a game either.....

if your running windows, is your directX up to date ? ( dumb question

Yesh, everything else is up to date. I just went back to an older version of their catalyst control center and my gamma slider works again. Havnt tried HL2 to see if that still works. Eh.

HL2 . not too sure if itll work muchlike the other FPS ive played. and if my memory serves me right. HL and CounterStrike are much the same. you can set their gammas on the setting i think (sorry my memory is dull already its been agessincei played those games) and you can also set gamma by the `command. dunno how you call it. the button above Tab.

Setting Gamma of the game if am not mistaken didnt affect the monitor itself. or you can always use the Color setting of your monitor itself

back on the days we use the ingame gamma option or set the color of the monitor directly.

throw away your ati card and buynow reasonably priced a nvidia6800

....or be exsessive and go for a 7 series card...or SLI ooooooooooo kekekekeke !

i think the price has gone down since last year

i must say from personal experiences working on friends' computers who have cursed ati cards - there interface drives me up the wall
