Sending PMs

Post by CrazyJ »

When I attempt to send a PM, I get the following:
The resource cannot be displayed
The resource you are looking for cannot be opened by your browser.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

Click the Back button to try another link.
Click Search to look for information on the Internet.

HTTP Error 406 - Not acceptable
Internet Explorer
Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? Ideas on how to fix it?

IE6 or IE7?

I ask because IE7 is still beta, and microsoft may have decided to scrap yet another set of published internet and browser standards. Switch to Firefox and see if the error persists.

IE7: the love child of Netscape's interface and MS' helpfully numbered error messages. I guess Unacceptable counts as progress.

IE 6.0.2900

I've tried Firefox before and didn't like it. Is the forum not programmed to act correctly with IE 6?

PM Question

Post by KradetheRed »

I'm not sure if the PM's i've sent have actually gone out. The all show in my outbox and not my sent box. I'm not knowledgeable at all when it comes to PMing so please lend guidance.

Thanks

Its designed for use with IE6 yes, and if you hate firefox your going to despise windows vista IE7 is microsofts answer to Firefox and thats what ships with it.

As for outbox/sentbox if you see them in the outbox but not the sentbox the person hasnt logged in to get them.

Any suggestions on fixing the bug? I really need to send some PMs.

Any suggestions on fixing the bug?
Assassinate Bill Gates? Detonate a nuclear device in the Microsoft HQ? Cast Remove Curse as a lvl 99 Cleric? All of the above?

SOMETHING in this list should help.

Dump IE.

If for nothing else its riddled with security holes that tie directly into the OS. Figure that by the time M$ patches the holes the hackers have known about them for atleast a month, and there are plenty of accounts of M$ being notified about issues and NOT patching them until after someone posts the details publicly.

Opera too, any browser other than IE. Of all the browsers out there IE is the least compliant with published and accepted internet standards. There actually is a group that maintians those and M$ pays little to no attention to them.

At work I get
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /public/ns4/privmsg.php could not be found on this server.
IE 6.0.2900 also.

I have browser commonality between work and home... very convenient.

Just get Firefox, it has TABS!!! And there is a nifty little plug-in thing called IE Tabs that lets you use Firefox to do things that only IE can normally do. I use it to play Gunbound for instance.

One of the classes I am taking at my college uses this thing called Web SAM, and when I load the page for it, It says that I "need" IE 6.0 or later. I just right-click, select "View page in IE Tab", and away I go, no more troubles.
