Giant Hide gloves & Hands of the Master

Post by CrazyJ »

Both are useable by level 16... one is a generic drop, the other comes off of an area boss.... so why are the Giant Hide gloves better?
AC +4
AB +4
STR +5
2d10 damage

vs hands of the master
AC +3
AB +3
STR+5
3d6 damage

I'm thinking either Giant Hide should be level 20 (fits with +4) or Hands of the master need an upgrading to 2d8.

you forgot to include the fire damage. which is quite a big boost to monk fighting performance..

Originaly the monks were going to be a quest part of NC and an extension of the city. As it sits they are just there for monks to go prove their worth.

Perhaps we should add to it eventually.

Hmmm... perhaps a portal to the Plane of Nirvana? Could see some Epic Monks with some decent Kamas.

well, not necessarilly concerning just monk class:

giant hides are better simply because the +3 deflect on the hands of the master is often cancelled out by a standard imbued cloak (lvl 16) which are 5cha, 3ac , so with the giant hides 4ac , you squeeze an extra deflect ac out ....

and there is no reason for a level modification on giant hide, it is +5 str ....every other +5 str glove is lvl 16, level 20 gloves (crafted) would b the next step up: they are +6str, +5ac deflect..... And what makes them more pimped for a level 16 is simply the rationale behind artifacts in general, to give you a greater edge on a lower level toon

Giant Hide Gloves are artifacts, are they not?
That alone would signify why the items would be of different quality even though they have the same user level.

If they aren't an artifact, then nevermind.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

Nope, Hands of the Master are +2d6 bludge, +1d6 fire = 3d6

I did not realize Giant Hide gloves were artifacts.
