Hiya everyone.
I just logged into the NS4 BetaServer2 (MA) to help Fire with something and I experienced what I would call the most pointless action to-date committed by NS DM's.
I made my character (spent about ten minutes doing stats/feats/skills to get my build right) and logged into the server, ready to skip through everything and get the job done. While I was setting up the dialog shortening script, I was killed by casting in the -Neversummer Loading...- area; and I was stuck with a black screen so I couldn't see chat/players. I quirked an eyebrow and asked for a rez; nothing. I then respawned and got caught in a loop (I had no bind point.. figured I'd try it anyway. :/). I logged back in and was standing in the Loading area and low and behold, DM's sitting there with two or three other dead people around me.
I specifically remember Lloth (Mz) and Kelemvor (DD) being there, as well as NottyGirl (Notty was dead). I asked what was going on and didn't get a response, then asked two or three more times only to get /tp'd by another DM asking me if I was caught in a loop and why. When I said I had been killed by useless and pointless casting in the Loading area, they totally blew it off and ported me to the Planar Rift. Right before I was ported, Kelemvor disappeared. I loaded up the Planar Rift area right infront of him and was struck dead instantly by a Meteor Storm (200+ damage worth of one). While dead, I saw two or three people running around with Kelemvor standing at my head. I logged in again and asked him what was going on and told him what happened.. and it was blown off.
I don't know about everyone else, but to me, these little things are the type of things that totally turn off a player from playing NS4 at all. Its rediculous when you come in and die two times without DM response for five minutes after you are dead. I beta tested and knew what was going on (by meaning I knew there were DM's in the Loading area) and it infuriated me. DM's and Dev's want the playerbase to stay the same, and I agree with that, but if someone that didn't beta test and didn't know what was going on got hit with the same thing, I could see them saying 'Screw it.' to NS4.

I think you read your combat window wrong.
You were killed in an attempt to fix a bug where you respawn out of the load screen. When you hit the rift, the spell you are referring too was a special effect of the cinematic and does no dmg. I transported you there and you were already dead.
You of all people should of talked to me a little before going off on a rant like this. We are having some bug issues and are working them out between our day jobs.

On another Note Crymson if you don't get a DM's response it's probably because they are working their butts off trying to figure out what is going on and how to fix it, completely out of screen. I can say when something is going amuck I am spending ALOT of time in the Admin channel talking to the Developers to get ideas on what to do so I know how to help the players.

The Devs and DM's are working really hard to make sure the players are having a good experience, but since there is 30 players on, 1 DM on, and 15 ppl having issues we can't be there waiting on you hand and foot. Like everyone else, we will help you when it's your turn.

Its been happening on the server... I was on and had the fated "black screen" however, my solution was to wait, for about 3 minutes, eventually i think a DM or the game recognized what was going on and ported me to the rift.
The key is that this is a beta build, things will be going wrong for a while, so you might as well hunker down, post on teh bug forums, and don't get frustrated till these bugs can get worked out. Until then maybe load up some old games for those times the servers are messed up or when something really bad happens.
Just keep contributing bug problems, and eventually most of them will get fixed, but until then, we all have to ride this out
