Post by Donan »

Well I dont really know if this is clasified as my faction but i am hopin for some help. My ranger was runnin along my summon and come across some forest creatures fightin an ogre, since i am so nice i go to help well dumb summons spams his spells and lets just say it ends up killin the forest animals now they hate me  i didnt even know what was happening since they did not turn red on me until one died...

Any chance to win them back or they are gone forever?

While favor from the gods can work wonders, I am not sure if animals can be swayed in such a manner ... certainly something worth looking in to...
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer

If a DM is on, they can fix an accidental hostility. Naturally, people who go out of their way to attack a certain faction (including non-player factions) shouldn't get the fix. I have had this happen to me on occaision (and had a DM fix and accidental switch due to mass battle chaos), and I think it might be good to tweak the code a bit so accidental switched don't happen as often as they seem to sometimes, or have a way of increasing a faction favor so that if you mess up and turn a faction against you, you can try to atone for the action.

I will try and ask(pray) for help while IG, but just an fyi for everyone else, if you run into the same situation and notice your controlled or summoned creature is attacking an ally you can dismiss summons or release your control, i tried it out as long as u remove the offending thing from your group in time the controlled beast may still kill the ally but it will not be reflected on you... its a tight line but keep an eye out and it will save you some aggrivation

any chance of the ancient dire bears being made back into animals? I did invest a lot of ranks in empathy and thought it would be fun to use any animals available, the polar bears in frozen are nice but by that lvl they cant stand against giants even for a couple rounds to actually be useful for anything then maybe giving you time for 1 spell

The AE skill doesn't work that well and if the Dire Bears were switched to animal it would be unbalanced because lowbies would be able to easily empathy them and gain a huge advantage for a very low price.

The only thing with the dire bears is that they're friendly to The Circle. So any Circle ranger or druid would just be able to walk up to them and empathy them with a take 20. Even a non Circle character would be able to empathy one with a take 20 if the timing is right. Ancient dire bears have something around the tune of 300 hps, so it's a bit unbalanced to have a level 5 or so character walking around with one trashing everything he comes across.

A related FYI. If you're Circle don't kill the Worgs in Haddon Mirk. Even though they'll attack you on sight, if you retaliate all the other animals will get in a tizz and hate you.

The deal with empathy and the dire bears is this from what I have seen.....aren't the dire bears kind of spread out and hard to get too in the first place? I know where some are at and there are Giants and Ogres to deal with before I can even get close to them.....If a low lvl toon gets that far, then by all means, have at them.

You're not taking into account that invisibility powders are REALLY common.

the dire bears are right by avendell west towards the gobos, so a lvl 3 could make it there no prob. i thought the worgs were friendly to the circle? my shifter was friends with them for a long time, sleeping by them to keep those nasty ogres away.

Strange. I was there with a Circle druid about aweek ago, thinking it might be good xps for my level. None of the worgs were hostile to me at all. Total waste of time.

Fun thing to do with the Worg Pack Leaders is to lead them back to Avendell, then release them from Empathy and watch them assault and kill n008z.

Which, in turn, would also be against the stated rules of Avendell.
