Problem starting the game

I am new to this site and the game. I have been having NO luck portaling after speaking with any of the ambassadors. I have searched the site and seen a few postings about this, but none of them were responded to with any helpful ideas. I have tried new characters... no help. I can only find one server. My video card is not the problem. What do I have to do to get the character started in the game???? As soon as the faction leader sends me off to my rest, the screen goes black and the game locks. I have tried more than one character and more than one ambassador. Please help.

The problem you're experiencing is that there are two servers that Neversummer is broken up into. On one server (server one) reside the Ragnar Kin (dwarves), Ancient Ones, The Circle, and the Northern Coalition. On the other server (server two) reside the Last Alliance, the Shadow Legion, and the Mystral Ascendancy.

The current technical problem is that the link between the two servers which is supposed to portal you automatically is broken. So, you have to do it manually. If the character creation starts out on server 2, any faction you join that resides on server 2 happens smoothly. However, if at the creation screen you try and join a faction that resides on server 1, it hangs up when it tries to send you there. If, after reaching the black screen, you go back to the list of servers and choose the other server than you started on, you should be able to connect and use your character.

But how do you log into the 2nd server (those happen to be the 2 different factions I tried to join). I only see one server on my list. I have also tried the shortcut method to the second server and it won't connect. Are any of those chars able to be logged in on the second server?

Ah, yes. Well, if server two is down, you're hosed.

In the meantime, you could create another character that resides in Ragnar Kin, Ancient Ones, The Circle, or Northern Coalition.
Hopefully the server will be up....soon?

Hate to beat an old dog but is server 2 now down.. cause I am having problems loggin in as one of Ragnars kin

No, but server 1 is down, and that's where all the dwarves hail from, so yes, that would affect you....
