I have made a mistake .. can you help?

I was crafting a scroll in Avendell to give to a Wiz so he could learn it.. and completelly spaced the "no AOE" rule. I am now viewed as Hostile to all of Avendelll...

I am a friendly player I never grief anyone I am willing to run halfway across the realm to Rez someone I will not make the same mistake again!

Unfortunatly at this point these things are written to the database, every trick that we have tried has just caused more problems than it fixed, and we tried some really off the wall stuff too. At this point we just dont have the tools available to us to get in and fix this.

To give you an idea of some unintended side effects, one memorable one of note while testing solutions to this problem was that the character in question ended up being forced into a party with every single undead NPC that was spawned at the time. The minute we tried the fix they were forced into the party and the only way for them to get out was to relog completely, still not reseting the faction issue either.

It is really only a minor inconvenience, as I have no need for Avendell except to sell stuff and visit Elvin's store for supplies.

and now I know not to make chain lightning scrolls in Avendell... I wonder what Wail of the Banshee would do

the problem in the avendell magic shop is so easy to fix. Just get rid of those commonors running around in the shops. And since frostdale and sunken isl. are ''behind the corner''(humhum) ; this will be a good time to fix it to.

This has been fixed, the spell is no longer cast, so noone can get hurt from it

How recently did it get fixed Netrom? Probably about a week ago I made a scroll of chain lightning in Av and it DID cast the spell, killing some commoners. It didn't make me hostile in Avendell, though, thank god. I thought the spell only jumps to hostiles, anyway. But I second the notion of no commoners in magic shops. That's the only area where any AoE stuff should be going on in Avendell anyway.

I think it sneaked in along with the first updates 7 days ago, atleast it seemed like that on my druid.

I might be wrong thoug, can anyone confirm that has tried within the last 2 days?

there is a simple fix to this problem. just craft your AoE spells in a hostile city. this always works out nice cuz you get to nail some evil commoners from somewhere else. i did however do the AoE in avendell pre wipe and decided to kill everything in the magic shop. when i emerged none of the gaurds were after me, perhaps because i destroyed the evidence of my wrong doing?

I'm glad this problem was fixed too. I had to start over my wizard because I made Avendell hostile by scribing darkness and stinking cloud scrolls for a fellow player. At least I don't have to worry about this any more.

Netrom is correct, the problem was fixed recently. Instead of the spell you are casting, now you get a harmless but cool graphic. Just for fun try getting all the commoners around you and then scribe fireball scrolls
