Epic Warding and multiclassing

Post by VagaStorm »

Dos any one know how epic warding works with multiclassing? Is it based on caster lvls or class lvls or toon lvls? Like a pm with 30 pm livls(15 caster lvls) will he only get warding like a 25(15pm +15 wizard) caster? Or dos it work like erthgen where it's toon lvls?

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

To get it you need to be able to cast 9th level spells, and be an epic caster (PM, Sorc, Wizard).

Epic Warding itself doesn't matter whether you're a pure wizard or a multiclass character as far as its effectiveness is concerned. At least the way I understand it (or its been explained to me by burrahobbit [has 30 PM summoner and a couple pure sorc's]).

Caster levels do alter the spell since it has been changed in NS4. It always soaks 15 points of physical, but it can be pierced by a magic weapon of appropriate strength. The more caster levels one has, the more powerful the magic weapon needs to be. I assume this works just like any other spell that has effects based on caster levels, no different figuring out the duration of haste or something.

So pure casters will get the same benefit as an earth genasi token, with soak 15 instead of whatever an earth gen can soak.

From changelog top of page 16:
- Epic Warding: Provides damage soak of the same power as a similar level earth genasi and will soak 15 physical damage. Lasts until rest, not dispellable, no damage absorbtion cap.
Based on what you said and the wording of the above, then it is based on caster level as it equates to an earth genasi level so a 30 caster level multiclassed character would have the same penetration value as a 30th lvl earth genasi or +7/15 epic warding?

I get the exact same resistence from my pure sorc as i do from a 21 caster lvl pm. pure fighter using his +20 enhancement bonus still doesnt change the resistence. Since there are no +35 weapons.......

I spose i should recheck. I'll post results

It's not caster level, it's character level.

huh, i assumed it was caster level since it the wiki lists stats at lvl 10 and lvl 20, but it is impossible to get epic warding pre-epic. You can get it post epic with less than 20 caster levels however. Seems pointless to even list stats at lvl 10 then, but I suppose it isn't a big deal really

But it is easy to copy and paste Earth Gen stats and slap a 15 over the 10 ';)

Well now you guys have me wondering. I'll test it out. It probably doesn't work at all anyway :P
