forced loss of faction?

Post by disastro »

just had an incident where a player from my own faction attacked me during a raid in my home cradle room. i generally have no problem with rogues, but my auto attack in response caused me to instantly lose faction in the room, turning everything red against me.

it was only temporary but it made it impossible for me to defend, i had to leave the zone to avoid doing more damage to my status. Player did the same thing again outside. if i attacked the player i would lose faction.

is this legal?

Is this related to this post: http://www.nsrealm.com/public/ns/viewto ... &t=1001231 ? It seems dodgy but legal, tho if it will cause ppl to loosetheir fraction when attacking the rouge player maybe this tactic should be revised...

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Things like that can spoil the fun of PVP if some one elce makes you loose your faction maby rouge players should make sure they allredy have lost faction befor attacking there owne faction.

By the way is there any way to get your faction back other then begging a DM to do it for you?

That sounds reasonable, at least for pvp in their hometown...

There isn't a way to separate PC faction loss and NPC faction loss?
I put the IO in socIOpath!

vaga: this is indeed the same incident as that thread (heh it was late... i didnt see the existing thread). renard and i were defending when it happened.

if this is indeed legal then a great pvp strategy is to roll up throwaway toons in each faction and send them in during raids. if an enemy has an aoe going (sov), or a pet, or even cleave then they'll instantly lose faction and thats one less defender you have to worry about. they're out of the action until a dm intervenes! sometimes you even have to do a quest to get faction back.

my caster permanently lost faction in about 15 seconds when my fully buffed balor went wild (ill considered use of web spell on my part, but goes to show just how fast you can drop faction.)

at worst they'll have to leave the zone for a period of time which is even better than killing them. (they did this last night to force us to get out, which caused our epic defenders to go away.) and with the handy ability to bind in their own city, you can spam raid forever until your friends show up. even if you fail in your relic attempts, you STILL get the relic xp bonus.

"Thou shalt not relog any character during a relic raid, except to relog a defender character," I'm not setting all my gold on it, but I think it was ruled in the past that you can not relog a toon from a diffrent fractionthan the one your currently playing for a raid...

to clarify: the situation i described is not about relogging, or about defending enemy relics. it's about a player from your own faction raiding your own cradle, and in the process forcing you to lose faction due to faction code. no relogging was involved (and needn't be to take advantage of faction code).

i heard second-hand that it was all ruled legal, i'm just looking for a verification. i dont mean to rules lawyer but this is something that kinda feels like an exploit.

Im not trying to start anything but back when i started playing in LA, i seem to recall a bunch of "nameswithheld of IO" helping the other factions raid and defeat MD and no one complained about it..so why is this an issue now?
