i agree...P. Fricebottle wrote:Why'd you have to resurrect this thread? Why??
when a thread goes beyond 7 or 8 pages it ususally becomes redundant, dragged out and meaningless...... (the exception is the sacred SPAM thread)

let the devs develop and the players play.

I asked an honest question
I tried to return the thread to the original subject which was not at all well discussed. I actually got one pretty good answer though I still think the system only gloves can have str etc is strange. I would assume multiple items of same buff wouldnt stack as most spells don't.
What I'd like to know and especially fatz you should answer, why is it ok for threads to wander all over the place and you to spam almost everything and when someone asks a real question you jump all over him?
There are Very few threads, I've never found any outside of a couple guild ones, that don't very quickly become 99.9% spam.
Talk about resurrecting threads "Bump" is ok but asking a question isn't?

Vastly confused
Re: I asked an honest question
multiple items with the same stat buff DO stack. the reason the "only gloves can have str" style of item was created was to in effect limit how far you could buff (a ghetto but necessary way around the stacking issue).Rummybum wrote:I tried to return the thread to the original subject which was not at all well discussed. that way, if only gloves can have str, then you can guarantee that nobody will ever have over a +8 (or whatever) buff from items. otherwise you have your +6 gloves and the +2 belt and the +1 rings and before you know it, a carefully selected combo will max out stats in any number of combinations.
for the record I also like the +8 cap for epic items. stuff like barbarian rage can be fixed with the pure barb stuff going in (changing what the feat does etc.) then everything will count and builds still reign supreme over eq packratting.
i belive a good limit would be +7 from dropped items planar gear ect.
and +8 craftable. that way there is still a reason to waste all the gold/time on crafting. if crafting isnt better than drops noone would ever bother.
But imo +9 or 10 is just to much.
and with these limits it wouldnt make the devs do any huge changes to allow caps to be put in.
not like it would if we had +4 on drops and +5 on crafting, which i would like to see.

as far as i know the stat enhancement stacking is an engine hardcoded thing. divine shield and magic vestment respectively provide deflection and armor bonuses, which explicity do not stack in the bioware engine (this is in agreement with pen and paper rules).Rummybum wrote:would a +2 on a boot and a +8 on gloves have to stack? with spells like divine shield or magic vestment used on armor or modifiers on helms and amulets usually only the higher one counts, they dont stack.
per pen and paper rules enhancement bonuses to stats are not supposed to stack either, but for whatever reason bioware decided that they will ignore that rule and instead put a +12 total bonus cap. (in pen and paper there is no stacking on similar bonuses, but there is no arbitrary cap either.)
