Is this factoring in the AC of the opponent and diminishing returns on the extra attacks from being a high level? If you can only hit on a 20 it doesn't matter what your threat range is.
If you tilt your head far enough and squint hard enough, anything becomes as simple or complex as you'd like--regardless of whether it is or not. -- A lesson learned from Stephen Wolfram's A New Kind of Science

I tested your theory on:
"damage resistance to a weapon depends on weapon type only
example 1: rapier +1d6 pierce +1d6 slash will do 3d6 piercing damage only, slash resistance will not block anything vs rapiers."
I gave a creature some armor with 5/- resist peirce on it.
I gave myself a long sword with only +5 peirce damage on it.
I hit the creature and every hit showed a resistance of 5 damage.
You're theory is wrong!
But you were right when you said, "i havent done actual testings so its possible im wrong."
Too bad the devs can't use the latest version of the tool set or we could get these nice looking item mods:

1. AC Bonuses
2. Available Damage Amounts (max is +20)
3. Available Damage Types
4. Damage Reduction can go up to +20/xx
5. Available Resist Amounts
Also saving throw bonuses go up to +20 and so does regen.
There is also a item property that increases or decrease arcane spell failure for arcane casters. So the devs could make armor and shields that have the arcane casting penalty reduced or eliminated so that casters don't need to take still spell or autostill.
If it weren't for those suckas that don't want to use HoTU the devs would have more to work with!

Skills go up to 50 :)
You can decrease AC of all 5 types (only -5 max though).
Spell failure percentage modifiers... And if they used the CEP they'd get Use Limitation: Gender too :)

Btw, for any IE users out there, you will notice a grey box around my picture because your browser is ANCIENT crap!!! (You shouldn't notice the grey box, you should see the normal grey of the webpage)

Get the Mozilla 1.6 or Firefox 0.8 (I use Firefox). Both are way better than crappy IE, atleast they handle .png transparencies properly!

Use Opera. Less bloat than Mozilla/Netscape. http://www.opera.com
And just because the options are available doesn't mean the devs should use them. Casters should have to use still spell in armour. :)

i think i said "RAPIER", not "LONGSWORD"
LONGSWORD is pierce/slash damage type so any pierce/slash resistance will block damage (whichever is higher)
RAPIER is pierce only

Elemental damage aren't sooooo effective with all the planar guys running around
I would like more a giant huge halberd with +20 slash pierce bludge and enanchement bonus... mmm would like +80 slashing damage...
...sigh, dreams...
Well anyway weapon damage progression really needs a boost if resistances and immunities of mobs are going to remain like this. But i think it's fine if the immunities (that are ABSOLUTELY INSANELY HIGH, i wonder who putted them in... i mean, physical immunities are the EVIL, they should be removed from the toolset.... and think that a lvl 16 char can get 50% immunity to a physical attack is.... well, not too pleasant if you aren't a damn caster....) the current weapon damage progression is fine enough. I mean, after all a lvl 16 weapon has +2d6 physical, +3 enanche, keen, and +2d6 massive crits. And the "special" dropped versione of those weapons have also an additional +1d6 elemental and some effect on hit, so aren't sooooo bad. Just that is pointless to fight something with a big sword/hammer/spear if they have 30% immunity and 10 resistance to everything. Well, at least if you aren't a lame cleric with lame darkfire, in this case you don't care, after all you always do huge fire damage....
