Playing NWN2
I am currently playing the NWN2 campaign slowly but surely at a network gaming store. When I can I'll buy a new computer, then buy the game itself. Until then, this option works for me as I still enjoy NS4 enough to not worry about NWN2.
That being said, can anyone recommend a persistent world for NWN2? One that does not requiring downloading anything at all. And fun, if possible. There is a list of servers at gamespy, but I'm paying by the hour and any ideas would help to save time.
Thanks!!

but to answer the first question:
most persistent worlds of NWN2 are going to need files to be downloaded. its the nature of the new game. all worlds with any kind of custom content will be like that...its the thing that is going to make NS5 stand out from the rest of the NS series. now that the game has to be hack'd, that means the imagination is the limit.

That is unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) always going to be the case: to connect to ANY PW in NWN2, you need to download a PWC file which contains the walkmesh information (and can contain a few other goodies). This can be compressed however, so it's not too bad - uncompressed our current PWC stands at around 500 megs; compressed it's about 110 megs.
There are also PWC/HAK management tools out there (Worldgate looks the most robust ATM) that manage some of this process for you - autochecking the server to look for new files, only downloading the pieces that have been updated from the last time, etc. We'll probably offer both solutions for people that want to try it out and for those that know that they want to make NS5 their home.
