Bard Song Bug

I've come across a bug with bards where I can't sing Bard Song.

I try to sing and my character goes through the motion like he's going to sing, but there's no normal area effect, and no bonuses even though it says "Jekyl M.D. sings." Curse Song works fine still. I logged onto another bard character and bard song and curse song worked fine, so it seems to be character specific. I can't think of anything unusual that happened when this bug occurred..

I tried, dying, relogging, resting, using bard song without a quickslot, and replacing quickslots. No luck.... the only thing I've found that seems to make it work again is a server reset.

I've come across this before, and the only current solution seems to be a server reset. Try PM'ing a dev with the specifics of this to and see if they have any insights.

Yeah! I've run into this problem many times in the past as well... at first I thought it was a bug with lvl40 toons (I have 3 level40 bard toons that have all at one or more times experienced this bug on reflections and prime) and the job status, but now i've had it happen to a non-lvl40 toon as well.

It's quite annoying when it happens, but I have yet to find any cause... it could have something to do with; relogging, respawning, party-bug, or a spell/weapon effect bug causing silence or deafness that persists beyond rests and deaths.

I would say to all bard-players to keep an eye on this and keep a log of the last thing you did or happened to your bard before the song stopped working and perhaps we can find the correlation.

i havent had this happen to my bard before and dont believe its happened to any of the other slave bards...but i'll keep a look out and try to note possible causes

I've seen it happen its quite puzzling and yes so far the only cure is an entire server reset which is kind of troublesome

hmmm, I've got a pure bard and havent run into this problem either, but if it does happen I'll know what it is

See if resting fixes I'd guess. Script looks for bonuses from a bard song to decide if it should give more (otherwise it would all stack), so maybe if one of the effects doesn't clear properly...

When this has happened, of course i did try many things, all didn't make any difference:

- Resting
- Resting, logging off during the rest and relogging
- Re-Logging in a no-pvp zone
- Dying using death express - with both respawning and resurecting
- Dying to a PK - with both respawning and resurecting
- Dying to a mob - with both respawning and resurecting
- Dying to a DM kill command - with both respawning and resurecting
- Removing all worn equipment, resting, getting dressed and resting again

I didn't try:

- having someone cast wail on me
- having someone cast silence and silencing me
- relogging nekkit
- deleveling ;P

It seems like whatever script fires for bardsong, it's exiting the script right at the beginning for some odd reason...

So anyhow, until this mystery is solved, it seems that you either have to live with it until the next reset/crash, or levelup more than one bard toon.

Which server is your character on Celorn?

If you could get together with Fire to grab a game save of a bugged character I can go through the effects and variables lists to check for problems. (Would only need the module.ifo from the .sav and the character name, just open with the NWEdit utility in the repo and extract that file.)

That's the problem tho-- it's not any one character... it happens INTERMITTENTLY (I know programmers and techsupport workers LOVE that word) to all of my bard toons, on prime and the one lvl40 on reflections too.

Most of the time there is no problem, it just suddenly happens mid-game it seems. When it happens again I'll PM you and hope you can check it out before the server resets (since it gets fixed then).

It could be some crazy thing like a script/loop that exits prematurely if you interrupt your resting?
