Paladin's Aura of Courage
Paladin's Aura of Courage
Playing my first paladin and I notice that the immunity to fear is not working properly.
The combat window says "Immunity to Fear" the black skulls fly around and I run away momentarily but return yet I receive a -2 to my ab which is reflected in my combat log rolls.
Is this a bug and can it be fixed?
Cheers

That's a shame. I guess it means a ab hit regardless of when and who fears you player or monster.
BTW I notice that Aura of Glory doesn't do as described in the spell information and on the wiki. As it states the spell is supposed to grant a +4 cha bonus. What it does do is give a +1 cha bonus a bit of a damage shield (max 5 dam) and cool effect, I guess.
It would be nice to know these things when designing a build
.
As it stands the loss:
- an extra 3 rounds of div might and shield duration ;
- an extra +6 divine damage;
and +3 AC lol!
Can a DM or Dev provide a clarification, please, of what it does do now beyond my fuzzy description so I can go add it to wiki for others.
Thanks

Just in case someone doesn't see/search for it at the bottom of the page, here's a URL that'll get you right to Metis's Aura of Glory post:

Aura of glory
- now has a shield damage is lvl/5 +4 divine
Thank you both for the heads up. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the work the devs do - my length of stay here is testament to that.
Honestly I prefer the original - any reason for the change? Are the players who supported the change still playing and care to share their reasons?
Aura of Glory is effective for divine builds as you are already sacrificing AB to pump up CHA.
As stated the extra damage and AC especially in epic levels is fair compensation for not be able to hit as often, but when you do connect, to hit harder. Relinquishing an extra 6 divine damage and 3 AC for a max 12 reciprocal damage shield at level 40 is not worth it IMO.
I strongly urge players to update the wiki when they discover changes affecting their builds as well and not leave it to the usual few. We're trying to enhance the fun for everyone

Paladins can easily hit their +12 enhancement cap for CHA around the mid 20's after you count Eagles Splendor, a cloak, and, of the three factions that can have Paladins, two (LA and NC), have a job that grants an additional +1CHA bonus.
Sooo, you're not losing anything in the long run.
I'm also a little curious about your Math as well. The Original Aura of Glory gave +4 Cha, yes, that's a +2 Modifier. The Three Cha difference between the old and new version does not amount to a +3 Modifier difference for abilities such a Divine Might (Which caps at +20 damage once you reach 30CHA/+10 Mod, extra duration is all you get after having 30 Cha.) or Divine Shield. It in fact amounts to a +1.5 Modifier difference, not +3.

Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.
Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

What I have found with Aura of Glory is that it is better at higher levels then lower. I used eagles splender when lower level, now that I am higher level I use the Aura. I get +11 total bonus with that and gear and NC bonus. That puts me at 29/+9, which works well enough when I see opposition get 7-10 divine damage every time they hit me. The 1 ac point and 2 damage is offset with the damage. I will be taking one more Chr point so with same buffs get 30/+10. I only have 2 level 2 spell slots and the other is bulls str of course, before anyone asks why not use both eagles and aura spells
So i guess my point of view is that it is just like any damage shield spell the higher level you are the better it is.
