Perfect Self

Post by Blystos Re »

As it stands, Perfect Self effectively grants nothing.

20/+1 Damage Reduction: The number is great, but when was the last time anyone with 20 levels of Monk had to worry about getting hit by a +1 weapon?

Immunity to mind affecting spells and abilities: The wiki states that the mind spell/effect immunity is disabled.

Suggestions on what could be put in to replace this?

I would like to see the damage reduction adjusted, maybe 10/-?

Could work. Since monks can't use shields they have less damage reduction than shield users.

http://www.nsrealm.com/ns4wiki/index.php/Perfect_Self

"Perfect Self
From Neversummer 4 Wiki
Type of Feat: Class

Prerequisite: None

Required for: Monk 20

Specifics: The character gains immunity to all mind-affecting spells and effects, and damage reduction 20/+1.

Use: Automatic

The Mind effect Immunity on this feat isn't working, all you gain is the damage reduction. "

Ok, that'll teach me to read official documentation...

monk 20 mind immune works, on another note tho.......&)

I would like to suggest using the path of the pure monk to increase
Perfect Self. Pure monk 25 20/+2, 30 20/+3 and so forth.

While we're at it, let's add a level 40 pure monk feat.

"The Will of Ki'Jong Ill" : once per day only the most dedicated and
well studied of monks may invoke the Will of said Ill, granting the ability
to resist changes in time.

on the subject of pure monk ideas

Chi Syphon
Lvl 30 Once per day the monk may absorb the Chi of nearby creatures (1d2 + monk lvl /3 radius small area ) this Chi is used to enhance the monks own and grants the temp bonus of (ammount taken to Wis and Damage) this effect lasts monk lvl/3 rounds

Kind of defeats the purpose since most mind-affecting spells are Will and thats the Monk's main save.

Monks are already an incredibly powerful class.

Class skills in discipline, listen, spot, tumble, no weak saves, along with extremely powerful feats, mind immunity (as mentioned in this thread) and monk speed. Nearly every character I play with takes it as one of their classes, for these reasons and many others. They really don't need any boost, imo.

Monk's dont' have a main save... they're the only class that has a high save in all three areas

I concur the 20/+1 Damage Resistance is rather pointless at 20. A shadowdancer at level 4 gains 5/+1 which shows up its useless practical application at present as a feat.

I would though like to suggest an increase in the duration of Empty Body. At present it supposedly has a duration of 1 round per level but this is not the case. It does not last very long at all perhaps 1 round per 2 levels. Can we have it tweaked to back to 1 round per level at least or perhaps 2 rounds per level.
