I did some searching for "shifter crash temporary hit points" and found a PW server with a dev log with this on it:
- Changed how polymorph temporary hit points are applied to help avoid a server crash bug. Temp HP will only be applied if character is at full HP.
Can you see if that would fix our problem too?

The thing that makes factions specific to the RP sense is there PRC and what they can and cant make.
If shifter is taken from TC then they should be given something to compensate for it. Mages or all domains for a cleric mabey. But then again this will go against what the whole porpous of shifter is and hence negating what the devs have tried to accomplish by making specific PRCs for each faction.
There are already so many limitations to TC taking there PRC would be a crippling blow IMO
I agree that taking away a PRC is a crippling blow, however I believe that maybe they were just suggesting taking away shifter temporarily until it could be fixed. I also agree that implementing a severe penalty to people who hunt shifters and kill them repeatedly just to crash the server, may help while the bug is looked at rather than try to remove a class if not necessary.

Speaking as an M.D. member... yes, they killed a shifter several times, but it wasn't to try to crash the server... in fact, we lost xp and time when the server crashed. We want the shifter bug fixed as much as everyone else.
Anyone else have input on what could be the problem? Most of the things I've read seem to hinge on temporary hit points being an issue.

The main problem i have with this is there are what less than 10 active shifters on the server?? and there are what 10 times that affected by this bug.
Seems to me that shifter should be frozen for the good of the whole server until the problem can be fixed.
only other point i would make is that a while back there used to be a guy with a shifter that crashed the server and strangely enough this guy used to post on shout a warning every time - i.E has the bug changed so you cant post a warning ??
ill give said shifter the beniefit of the doubt about the warning thing cause ive seen him post it once on this particular pked a lot shifter while his toon has cost me k's of xp and some nice planar stuff.
point is if 1 class is costing all the others xp/items/cash get rid of it till its fixed for the good of the majority

LAMO, you can not remove shifters as to many classes can shift and crash the server... We would end up with what? Pallys, fights, barbs and monks?
If it is true that saving could be a problem, how about moving the death save to on respawn instead of on death. As I understand it, the shifted char is unshifted on death...

if u take the shifted con then u get whatever u had to start.....
IE u make a druid non-conbased because the shifter usually overrides the con then u have a 300 HP lvl 40 dragon..... that would kinda defeat the porpus.
If they doo wanna take away the con bonous mabey beef them up a bit so they have a better survivability.
mabey add AC to the shifted classes , m=better offensive capabilities.
If your gonna take the con bonous they need to be able to live longer.

OK it seems like we all concede that banning shifters is not the solution and with very good reason.
I'm not a scripting expert, but how about this. There must be something in place that says once you reach 0 hp you're dead, so scripts can be related to your hp. How about making a script that plays on shapechanging abilities/spells that fires once you reach say 33% max hp and unshifts you?
Also, I'm sure people have noticed if you have an emote quickslotted it greys out during rest, so functions can be disabled at certain times via scripting. So have the above script also disable shifting ability if your below 33% hp.
I think it would give a neat (here comes the cheese) Incredible Hulk effect to shifters. Like when they beat and beat and beat on the Hulk until he's so weak he turns back into Banner.
