Dev crit illegal

Post by Æ »

I was just told that there is no devestating crit in NS4, is this true?

If it is, with saves being as low as they are you should remove death magic altogether, and HiPS, and PM crit immunity and epic ward... etc, etc, etc

You say that NS4 is about the character's abilities when I ask for better fighter gear, then you take away a fighter's best ability and the only thing he has to compare to things like death magic and sneak attacks...

This is TOTAL BS, I've been building my fighter for the last 17 levels to achieve that feat so i could compete with the mages who constantly shoot me down as i try to damage them enough before i die

Can I please have a confirmation from a DM on this matter before I quit neversummer for being completely unfair to those who like to play fighters?

Thanks

This is really unfair... you didn't totally take anything away from any other classes, but you take this?

You lowered the saves in NS4 so spells would be effective, and now spells like a lvl 20 WoB are pretty much irresistable and effect everything in sight.... but a fighter can't have his effective instant death ability? what's up with that?

Why not just limit it to once every 30 secs like WoB? Though that wouldn't be fair either because the mage has plenty of finger of death and stuff too

I strongly ask that the Dev's reconsider this ban or modify it for limited use

(are vorpal or slay weapons available? I highly doubt it)

Shoot. So, what should my barbarian work for? Is Thundering Rage useful at all, or will everyone just save against it? I'm starting to think if I want a shot to survive at all PVP I should take a caster. I suppose my barbarian can carry a lot. That makes him useful to a party.. as a donkey. ;)

I guess I couldn't get devastating critical until lvl 35 anyway, so I'll only miss out at the very highest levels. Is there anything else that's been removed from Barbarian feats?

If you want to survive in PvP, bring three friends, one of them a sorcerer who can counterspell.

Seriously, though, with the reduced ability of items compared to NS_3, the boost you get from Thundering Rage ought to help some. Personally, if they didn't change anything from the Bioware scripts, I find Terrifying Rage to be a lot more useful, and a pure class can get it a lot earlier.

That'd be fun! I'm starting to wonder though, is there any reason they'd want me along? I mean, apart from carrying stuff and hitting things. I can avoid PVP, too, it's just I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'd get more action as something other than a barbarian. ;) It's all about the action!

Well, I am assuming a party of four, right? The Barbarian's job would be to stand in front and whack the DR-possessing enemy with enough Power Attacks to penetrate his armor while the sneaker goes around to flank. In the meantime, the Cleric is boosting the Barbarian's already massive HP and STR.

You guys ever play any PnP D&D? That was standard operating procedure. If you had a 5th player, it would be a bard standing back and singing Bardsong and Cursesong at the same time.

Is the problem with dev crit because WMs are able to increase the crit threat range? If so, way to ruin it for the rest of us, WMs! :P (I don't roll 19-20 very often)

What's the fun of a mage having to kill everything for you? Why am I even there? The mage could counterspell for me and buff me and I could cut up the mage easy, sure... but why would he do that when he could just kill him himself by casting some destructive magic at the mage? He wouldn't even bring me in the firstplace }: P Fighters are fricken useless in this mod, I'm going to play my mage now, even though I hate playing mages

And all these views will start changing when you have a world full of nothing but solo mages, watch... as soon as the beta ends, theres a vault wipe and everyone's going to start again as a mage... they it won't be much different than NS3 (which you seem to all dislike)... a bunch of solo supermen (mostly fighters) running around except this time they'll all be casters

AND 28! you're kidding right? Axon has a DC 40 wail at level 22 last i heard

and TC... nice plan, except that while the barb is trying to power attack and the rogue is trying to flank and the mage is trying to click on him to counterspell, the enemy mage is retreating with haste and hitting them all with a volley of magic... and throw summons into the mix...

Dev crit still banned.
This is so sad ill just laugh and leave.

And runar, unless its changed, terrifying rage will only scare the goblins, it wont be of any use in challenging encounters which you want it for since its bugged and only effects those with less then half the hit dice then you have in barbarian levels.

No idea on slay weapons, but I have found a vorpal weapon. Making a WM in that weapon as we speak  .

Yeah, hopefully the grouping will get better once more people start playing. I'm not all choked up about it or anything, it was just one of the cool feats I was going for. Also sounds like thundering rage isn't worth anything, so I may see if I can meet the stats for Mighty instead.

Yeah, +2 reflex isn't bad to have. It's not all that "fun" though, you know? Maybe if there was a cool animation that went with it, or a special grunt or something.
