I have noticed that often when I look out into the distance and shoot a MOB I get no XP.
I get the "Hawke killed goblin" message and I do get Job xp. Is this on purpose or fixable?
Thanks
Light a fire for for some one and keep them warm for a night....Light someone on fire and keep them warm for the rest of their life.
If I'm not mistaken, there is a limited range on how you gain experience, that affects you solo and in party. It is possible to be outside this range, and still attack/cast and not get any experience. Get a little closer. It's possible to still shoot without them seeing you.
yes but if you look at it logicly, that advatage to using a bow aposed to a a sword is that your enemy isnt going to see you.
i mean just because the AI cant see you doesnt mean there is something wrong, it means your skilled at using a bow.
I dont really use archers but i think common sense would tell me that a long range weapon's positive would be that you can strike without your enemy knowing your there.
to me making an xp zone really kinda defeats the purpose of long range war fair, and really just has no logic to back it up.
Archers work best in a party... the best archers IMO are bard/AA archers and cleric zen archers... because not only can you take shots from far away, but you can buff your party members. If you're in a party you can run around until the monsters attack your friends instead of you.
Also, HiPSer archers work well if you insist on going solo.
And slingers (the very few of them) can actually tank pretty decently considering they can use a shield... they still get AoO though, so make sure you take Mobility.
Also, every good archer has a backup plan of a shield and melee weapon just in case they run out of arrows or have to go melee.

Since when did archers kill enemies within those first 2 rounds? The only real way the range would be an issue is if you're trying to cheese it by staying far, far, farrrr away.
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
Realistically, yes, you could target an enemy from far enough away that he wouldn't be able to see you.
However, even in PnP, after you take a shot the then enemy automatically spots you. (Though I seem to recall the option to attempt to hide if you have total concealment).
Realistically once you shoot an enemy, he's gonna be able to tell which direction you shot from by the direction the arrow is sticking out of his chest.
As it seems the AI has not been made to handle this situation realistically, the enemy will in fact just sit there.

Realistically if you shoot his eyes he should be dead in 1 shot, 2 at most.
