I would like to see timestop become what it was supposed to be in the first place....a defensive spell.
The way the pencil and paper method of playing D&D handles timestop is 1d4+1 rounds (so you dont know how long its gonna last or when its gonna end) and like greater sanctuary the spell ends when you make any form of attack. The area of effect is the caster only.
While you cant do the nefarious cast timestop .....cast fly .....grab some flightless person/monster and teleport 10,000ft up and drop them then fly or teleport back to watch them go splat (evil pencil and paper players trick) the caster can raise people ....use healing kits....buff people...or make a hastey retreat....without the fear of abusive TS spamming for offensive purposes.
IMHO I think we should do away with timestop crystals, feat requirements to cast the spell and make the spell unscribable as meer parchment cannot contain the secrets of time.

Ok here is the low down on the new Time Stop.
1) Use
A Time Crystal is required as an additonal cost to use the spell.
2) Duration
The default number of rounds is 1.
Greater Spell Focus in Transmutation = +1 additional round OR
Epic Spell Focus in Transmutation = +2 additional rounds.
(To clarify the above Greater and Epic Spell Focus in Transmutation does not = +3 additional rounds.)
Caster of Concentration Skill 60+ = +1 additional round.
3) AoE
The range is calculated from the caster position in 360 degrees.
The default range is 10.
(The mini-map at its largest scale shows a 10 x 10 grid for an idea of what the 10 actually means)
Epic Spell Focus in Transmutation = +20 additional range.
Caster of Level 35+ = +10 additional range.
4) Features
Casters of Level 40 have a 25% chance, rolled per party member of not freezing their friend in the AoE.
Hope that clears things up.
Also, I should mention the above is still under review and may be tweaked in the not to distant future.

maybe i am misunderstanding. unless your 40th level pure mage you dont have any chance to catch your allies with timestop?
how is that a bonus for pure classing? if you go 39 lvls pure mage you dont have any chance to catch allies with it and the cheese still stands.
maybe i am just missing something.
