I play on prime from time to time with the 5 or so guys I have. I have an AO, SL,TC,MA all of which have some form of ECL. I dont make my builds according to who will have the relics most of the time, that would be idiotic since most of you guys spend hours trying to find a spot to dump them so no one gets a bonus, I make my builds according to my likes and to some extent what is viable in the planes.
I also want to say that I think Zing and company are going in the right direction with what they are doing in the Relic area.

My apologies, I was under the impression that you played on NS4 prime, in which case a relic reset would de-centralize the relics, allowing for easy pickings in the non-defended factions (NC, TC, SL, MA).
yeap... a narrow minded, self centered, AO guild member,...gee, thats a first...........not :o

i tried to explain it in my previous post that server , or faction has no relevance but it will effect all equally, but it seems you couldnt get past my smilies

re: P\/\/ND !

now can we get back to a discussion like the first few pages of this thread instead of trying to defend your own personal prefrences... ty. :D

Good question. The answer is No. Commoners, peasants, rats etc do not affect the defense of a cradle.
The guard and faction leader type NPC definitely do.

The number of these defenders which count is randomly generated and assigned to specific NPCs. Killing any 3 defenders for example won't help, you have to find the ones which are tagged.

out of curiosity why would anyone go to the trouble of raiding just to deny someone else a bonus? it's not like getting raided subtracts xp.. why raid then drop instead of returning? (or doing nothing, since nobody gets xp either way.)

is there some strategy to it that I'm missing, or is it done out of general asshattery?

Its an LA thing. LA dumps someone's relic somewhere, and they make it into a game. Its been proven to be legal, but its also been proven to be an immensive in pain in the @$$. Try finding a relic in the LA sewer systems, the Diviner will just say Neversummer: Underground while theres 4 underground maps to search. It gets annoying, fast.

I think you've clearly shown the problem not to be the system, but instead the loyalty the AO defenders have to the relic. Try recruiting more loyal defenders to LA, and it wouldn't be an issue.

As well, whereas it may feel to the attackers that half the server comes to defend AO, that has never actually occurred. For those of AO: consider it a congratulatory statement, as your presence of up to 6 defenders (more often than not, 2-3) feels like 20+.
Loyalty... bunch of coldblood slaves, i think my point was that if members of one faction has put hording relics over all else, then that faction will become the desirable faction to play in since XP will be easier to obtain. ---- my point is proven by the reflection server, before it crashed for a week, any time I checked the logon list more than half the server was MA.. often times 100% (or nearly) MA!

Anyhow, we have proven that we can take relics if we want, but we apparently lack people who can remain on the server 24 hours a day (or check-in regularly) to babysit the relics.

There are lots of LA leveling up in HNs and tLB and untagged, and at the same time TC, NC, SL and MA are getting some higher levels going, so I can smell the relic balance shifting around a bit in the near future... enjoy your bonus while you can...

i have not been on for long but these things seem to shift over time. when i first joined ns4 reflections (about 2 months ago) LA was the dominant relic faction and had the full relic bonus almost continuously from what i could tell. they also had lots of "loyal" players.

I distinctly remember when joining MA with a friend (he wanted to do a pm and there was no other choice), it was pretty deserted except for a couple of high level players. they almost seemed surprised that new faces were around. a real effort was made to get the relics for us so we could level up and ressurect MA (we were made very welcome and I can't thank these guys enough for making MA a cool place to be).

Through their conscious and extensive efforts the relic balance came over to MA, and many more folks started toons in MA at that time. it's only recently that MA seems to be competitive in the relic race (from what i've seen it's pretty much LA vs MA on reflections, I can't honestly recall when I saw much raiding from other factions).

a couple of guys CAN make a difference for a faction. good faction-exclusive classes also make the race more interesting. when folks get tired of rolling pms or a few players decide they want something like a dwd you'll see the balance change again.

I've seen TC raid once on Reflections... other than that it's all LA vs MA.
