They were strong. Above anything else the mage had. People just didn't want to alter or modify their own builds to adjust for it.
Even my non-RDD warriors didn't have a problem being able to get a dismissal off within 3 or 4 rounds of being hit by a bigbies.

By strong you mean overpowered. I know, it wasn't an unstoppable spell. However, it was still too strong. Someone shouldn't have to modify their entire build just so one bigsby can't kill it without effort.
You're also assuming that everyone has dismissal rods. Yes, I'll say it right now that -BB- uses dismissal rods. Like you, we accomodated for Bigsbies. However, I'm speaking for the people out there who aren't in guilds, arcane crafters, or meta-gamers.

Pure classes are the extreme, and receive all of the qualities of that class up to the final level. Ones that multiclass minimize the disadvantages they'd normally receive if going pure, but don't receive the maximum abilities of that class. A pure wizard, cleric, etc. should know that they're going to have problems in some areas.
However, bigsbies could beat about just about anything but monks and mosntrous strength people. Other people couldn't really shake it off as easily, and would need a dismissal rod to do so. I repeat, not everyone has access to these. Sure, you can say its their fault but I don't think a crafted rod that usually only veterans have access to be the way out.
