you also have to concider that the bast sword is a lvl 35 and the scythe is 40th not to mention the scythe is 2 handed and thus the wielder needs to kill quicker than the bast sword user as he has no shield and less ac.
half of the bonuses on the scythe can be resisted by race in the case of planar races or by spells ( prot from elements ect) only the positive energy is virtualy irresistable except by a fiew pieces of armor. the same can be said of the bast sword however agian it is a lower level wepon and is one handed
i do agree with you on the fact that the bast sword does seem a bit underpowered for that level with only 2 positive and 1d10 sonic perhaps 1d6 positive and 1d12 soinic would be more approprate for a level 35 weapon
or conversly adding a effect to the already inplace damage bonuses like blind on hit 10% for 3 rounds

You guys are missing something forget about the scythe for a sec and look at the Lumi [censored] sword and the Lumi Great sword...... they have the same damage, yet the [censored] can be wielded with a shield, sure you get the 50% bonus to base damage, but they have the same crit range and bonus damage -- I can't see why anyone would use the great sword over the [censored] unless they had some sort of monk build, or were too low on feats to take exotics.
Basically, I'd like to see slightly boosted great sword damage ;]

ive tested a bit with this and...having two types of damage is quite better with the way things work in NWN, ask PurgatoryCrazyJ wrote:The scythe also does two types of physical damage (slash & pierce), which means although it has a lot more physical bonus damage, not as high a % of it's gonna get through since it'll be hitting 2 types of DR.

My goodness... How many times must I explain this?
Dual-DMG-Type Weapons
Morningstar, Halbeard, Scythe
These weapons have special phsyical DMG types
Damage resistance of either type will affect each weapon. If both damage resistance types are present, the SINGLE HIGHEST damage resistance will be used against the weapon.
Damage immunity is another story. BOTH damage immunities have to be present in order to affect the weapon. The lowest common amount between both resistances is used.
Therefore, these weapons will have their damage resisted more often.
However, when it comes to have your crit damage immunified, these weapons will be more likely to get more or all of their damage through.
Bonus physical damage on a weapon is converted to the weapon's base damage type. A morningstar doing bludg&pierce dmg with 1d8 bonus slash damage will do 2d8 bludg&peirce dmg. This means that no form of slashing immunity or resistance will affect this weapon.
Great weapon choices for sneak attacks (except for morningstar) and Weapon Masters.
Elemental Bonus DMG will be affected by any and all forms of resistance and immunity vs that dmg type.

Two types of DR affect it, but only one or the other, whichever is highest.
[censored] Sword Vs 5pierce resist and 10slash resist = 10 dmg resisted
Scythe Vs 5pierce resist and 10slash resist = 10 dmg resisted
[censored] Sword Vs 5%pierce immunity and 25%slash immunity = 25% dmg immunity
Scythe Vs 5%pierce immunity and 25%slash immunity = 5% dmg immunity
I have actually tested this stuff using controlled environment mod.
Set up 6 targets, 3 of which had 50/- resist to one of each of the physical dmg types.
3 had 100% immunity to one of each of the physical dmg types.
The scythe was resisted by 50 on the slash and 50 on the peirce.
The scythe cut through each of the immunity targets, no dmg immunified.

Oops, I overlooked "single highest" on damage resistance... in that case, they are probably *worse* than normal, since it's unlikely you'll run into anyone wearing solely 1 type of DR gear.
I've seen Divining Rods before, but not since the wipe... I thought they'd been removed. Glad to see they're around.

the point is that dual damage weapons are worse against damage resist (cos they pick the highest) but better against damage immunity (cos they pick the lowest).
because immunity cuts out a %, and DR cuts out a fixed amount, this means a very big hit (that sufficiently dwarfs the DR) will have less cut out - like big sneaks or big WM crits, precisely like Jester said.
Slightly more on topic - I revamped the Shapes section of the Wiki, but only have a dragonshape right now and the changelog is a little confusing about stats, could someone with a shifter check the other shapes.
Also spotted that the modified Heal spell description says that Conj foci improve the amount you heal. Is this correct? 'cos I've never noticed, and can't find it in the docs.
Oh, and how do you delete pages or mark them for deletion? there's a Spell Changes page that conflicts with the category when searching and I created another one by mistake when i tried to Move it.
