i would also agree with vaga.... casters r super easy till post 20ish...20-30 isnt bad but 30+ is a pain...everything is immune to everything..

casters r good for haste and ii and bigby and that is about it in the planes....

however PvP wizards do well, if only for the so called i win spells bigby timestop wail etc...and when non casters complain "god i hate bigby TS etc" i get to say "god i hate wpns stop whacking me with em"...

LOL.

Yeah, GSF: Conj at level 1 and cast Shelgarn's and sit back and watch. Cast Magic Weapon on it for extra fun.
In fact I actually stick with Shelgarn's right up to level 5 instead of Summon II because it doesn't muck around using abilities and just gets on with it.
Suffice to say I don't miss my familiar any more.

Mages have a lot of counters to all other builds, they're really good. By good they're advanced, not everyone plays them right. You have to know what bigsbies to throw, what spells work, and what spells don't. Generally theres some spells that work more then others.

Fighters, barbarians, etc. on the other hand only need to know how to whack something upside the head and throw down the pain with an Improved Knockdown or so every once in a while.

You only need 3 spells...

PvP involving a mage:
Round 1: Timestop, Mord's
Round 2: IGMS, IGMS
Round 3: IGMS, IGMS
Round 4: IGMS, Timestop, return to step 2, wash, rinse, repeat.

IGMS is only effective if there are only 1 or 2 targets...after that it divides too much to be effective.

That's why you don't target the actual target, you target off to the side so the 2nd and 3rd enemies aren't in the spell AoE radius.

heh, at least it's better than it used to be:

Round 1: Mords, Bigby
Round 2: Make Tea
Round 3: Drink Tea
Round 4: IGMS, Daydream
Round 5: IGMS, IGMS

Not really pwnage Fatz, just a sadly realistic truth of how overpowered Bigsbies were and what a crappy job Bioware did in balancing PvP...

back to the mage thing...

if your going to make a mage you need to decide if ur going pvp or pvm....

I've seen dome awesome leveling mages who can go from level 16 to level 28 in a matter of hours.

a pvp mage will have a harder time since he would be specced differently.

Bigbies was tough back then, but not THAT tough. It just affected a lot of builds more so than others.

All you had to do was take some UMD or the proper class and whip out your rod of dismissal (which is craftable and very abundant) and spam the rod on your self till you got lucky and made the check vs the bigbies then BANG instant green hand removal.

Yeah, but you had to meta-game, be in a guild, or just happen to be an arcane crafter and craft your own rods to get one. Also, dexers had absolutely no chances of freeing themselves for just a second to pull out a dismissal rod.

Your "yes-but" 's don't mean anything.

Thing is there was a way to deal with the issue, people were just lazy and cried till it got changed.

So you don't think there was anything wrong with the bigsbies the way they were?
