While carrying a relic, i have to revert to the alternate route
....in the time it takes me just to get to the RK stronghold, that individual could have capped the relic and been back on silver rd evendell before i even reach the city....
nevermind the focus or signifigance to the relic system -- it could be rarley used and provide no xp bonus and this would still be a very valid argument...
...imagine how many threads would never have been started if the system was thrown out

i would just feel bad for the devs who made it in the first place....
but there again this just validates the true significance of the relic system simply because of the number of threads and issues that do exist

..not to mention its popularity in game.
