this isn't about ego.
for so long people talked crap. I do it, everyone does. then when a fight happens there is allways a excuse why someone lost....
well screw the excuses.
if your going to talk crap then bring it. don't make excuses. oh its my only toon.... I don't have lots of chars.....
whatever might as well say I don't have a spine and ill talk crap untill someone cals me on it then ill make a excuse why I can't do it.
and TBD I accept.

No worries here... unlike Havok, I have nothing to lose, being that I probably wouldn't use the char anymore, anyways.Amoenotep wrote:i just find it funny that everyone was "THE" best player on the server....until they had to prove it once and for all. then no one speaks...hehe
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
I can almost smell the testosterone coming out of my screen. Men and their egos. No wonder we girls are called the "better half".
For those who want to risk losing a character through Thunderdome more power to you, for those who don't more power to you too. I am very happy to accept a challenge to a duel where if I lose all I need do is respawn. I can most certainly bow my head to the better build, player etc... And then look forward to the next time we challenge one another.
If one would dare think that taking the risk of losing a character through combat as a sign of intelligence, character strength, proness, no wonder our poor planet is in the shape it's in. For those who choose this type of contest fine, but please do not berate, belittle anyone who would choose not to. That is just insulting and it proves nothing. Never mind this "putting your money where your mouth is".
The effect of Thunderdome in game is rather silly. You can see people trying to provoke one another. It takes me back to watching little boys argue, "my daddy is bigger than your daddy". "Live to fight another day", seems to be a concept that is getting lost.
Maybe the Dev team can make some type of item that acts like a "six shooter" pistol. Something with a selfpower/use. Set it so there's a one in six random chance it goes off. When it does, your character is deleted right there on the spot. That way when you want to "prove" your prowess in that manor you can brag that you'll pull the trigger so "X" number of times and we can all watch to see if you beat it. In the end it proves what?
I know of some who want to go into Thunderdome for the rewards that maybe given. They have nothing to prove. They look at it as a challenge. I tip my hat to them for taking the risk, but some others, it's the "my daddy" argument. My mother was oh so right when she told me long ago, "Boys will be Boys and so will a lot of middle aged men".

Now that is wicked! RUSSIAN THUNDERDOME!!!!!
On a more serious note(or less), isn't that what we are here for? Fun...well this is fun for some and obviously not so much fun for others. All of this death and destruction brings a little cheer into my otherwise drab life. I just wish I had a toon that was worthy of thunderdome that wasn't going to get smoked. As it stands I think I am better off for now with running straight to the devil angel with some of them and not wasting others time.lol
Anyways my hats off to all those who helped bring a new facet to this server.

I think the Thunderdome adds a level of competition as yet unseen by NS. With such stakes on the line, you better be pretty sure of your abilities and know how to handle situations in order to go all-or-nothing in there.
For instance, I had been prepping my spells prior to the match, thinking I would be facing a melee cleric. This would allow me to omit certain defenses which would likely not be needed, concentrating more on what I would need to bring.
Much to my dismay, a 33 Druid showed up to the fight. I had to make some quick changes just prior to signing up for the fight in order to be able to cover what a druid might be using.
Also, 30 seconds to buff prior to a match is not much time at all, and requires giving up all but the most essential of spells. The choice of what you use will likely play a huge roll in determining the fight.

I personally don't feel like risking a character that I care anything about on what is essentially a blind throw of the dice.
I don't get the attraction I don't think this would make me feel heroic.
