Diviner teleport defense
Diviner teleport defense
I'm not exactly sure what happned today, but apparently someone killed a diviner and it hasn't respawned. I dont know if they are scripted to respawn or not but it seems there is a problem.
And yes I have checked the places it teleports to...
My suggestions is:
Diviners should respawn, and relativly fast
or
Diviners should teleport when attacked to the places they normally teleport to
or
Diviners should have a large weapon of some sort to kill would-be-greifers
I'm not sure what the developer's intened as far as gameplay goes concering diviners and their mortality, but it sure ended the fun everyone had today when the battles were won and all relics captured minus the faction's own hidden relic.
*ALSO, someone mentioned something about one of the dragons being killed- i dont know if it was true or not (it was there when i checked) but my suggestions for the diviners would apply here also.

wtf are you talking about?Bishop99 wrote:would-be-greifers
killing the dragon isnt anything new -- AO has done it in the past in Beryn...... it can be funny and spiteful to one group but can really frustrating for the people who now cannot make use of this transportation anymore, and i dont think the dragons respawn until the server is reset....

in other words he wants diviners to have 100ac and 100ab to beat the crap out of anyone who attacks them... lolJesterOI wrote:wtf are you talking about?Bishop99 wrote:would-be-greifers

Transport dragons should not be slayable. And AO on Prime should hardly be looked to for behavioral standards. The main problem with NS4 (and I have shared this view with several DMS) is the lack of rules for situations in which selfish or mean-spirited people can take advantage of the open-endedness of the mod and cause a lot of bad feelings. Now, I can hardly believe that DD and all the other staff want a lot of bad blood (as opposed to a healthy competitiveness) amongst the players. But that is what you have (or did have) on Prime in no small measure.AO has done it in the past in Beryn
I know that I have certainly gotten upset at what I felt was cheap or unfair behavior of others. Case in point was last night, when members of the LA faction 1) we thought killed the Diviner (because she could be found no where) and 2) hid the MA relic after MA players had taken possession of the other relics. Now, had LA not been in possession of the relics for most of the previous 5 days, I don't think many people would have been put out. But since this was the only way at the time LA could at least prevent MA from getting a relic bonus if they couldn't, people got upset.
This is churlish behavior, and ought to be precluded by scripting or rules. It is a kind of exploit and undermines the whole concept of relics in the first place. I mean why have the developers gone to such lengths to control NWN combat mechanics? Why have they, for instance, disabled Devastating Criticals? To keep players from have an unfair advantage, that's why. So why not apply the same logic to such things as relic raiding?

Actually there have beeen several times when AO has tried to use the Dragon and it had been killed or removed. DCN does not kill transport Dragons so it wasn't us. As far as the diviner goes..several times I have logged in after SL or LA has gotten the relics and our diviner was no where to be found. Usually the same time I found that the Transport Dragon was gone, our Diviner was gone as well. I asked a quick question on Shout about both things or in the IRC channel and when returning to the areas, both the Dragon and the Diviner had returned. I suggest asking a DM for help next time.kingfatzo wrote:killing the dragon isnt anything new -- AO has done it in the past in Beryn......

How else is someone supposed to RP their CE character?Findor wrote:The main problem with NS4 (and I have shared this view with several DMS) is the lack of rules for situations in which selfish or mean-spirited people can take advantage of the open-endedness of the mod and cause a lot of bad feelings.
As for causing bad feelings... It's just a game. Relax.
aye, i wansnt referring to DCN poet
, just more a generalization and refrence...to say that it has happened before.
....and besides that, arent there 2 divners per faction ? maybe you guys need to explore your own city a bit more
...when a diviner is attacked or talked to by an enemy it ports away and reverts to another one of its preset locations....

Wow...let's try this approach in the Middle East or in the world generally. Should work, huh?take some common sense, mix it with alittle fair play and add in some more common sense and you have all the rules you will ever need.
