Epic Level Rings :o

Post by kingfatzo »

i was curious , as i mindlessly wandered the forums this evening it somehow occured to write a post that was auctually remotly relevant  and then it hit me ! to the best of my knowlege, we have yet to see the presence of epic level rings drop from the planes. im not refering to unique boss drops, rather the epic versions of the traditional non epic rings we see...such as +7 to hide, conc, etc.... for example the ones that were mentioned over a month ago here :

http://www.nsrealm.com/public/ns4/viewt ... 6&start=15

across the two servers i have 3 (nearly 4) level 40's ...one with over 965,000xp on him and in all my time on the planes i havent found a ring like or similar to those mentioned in the above link
unless of course, they have been made available only recently since the new planar additions...
or are only specifically in the 'new' planes :? and no one has been fortunate enough to find them yet...

cheers. ! :)

Yeah, rings are tough - going much above +5 for skills (or two skills per ring) can get a bit unbalancing. Especially when you can wear two of them. If the current progression were to continue, at level 40 you'd end up with something like +10 skill bonus on two stats per ring. Being able to boost any stat (especially important ones like Discipine) by 20 points is too imbalancing.

So, that meant coming up with creative rings. At which point, I only made a few of them like Deep Pearl Ring and Anti-Ruby Ring, etc.

How about making rings with other effects besides skill bonuses?

Ring of acid resistance (25% for fire, acid, cold, etc)
Ring of regeneration +2 (no rings have more than +1 at this point)

Staying away from the dmg immunity on rings would be wise. (Damage immunity stacks, so what Flailer said about "2 rings" applies here)

However, putting dmg resistance or reduction of some sort on them at a balanced level would be useful.

Maybe even a ring that has the unique use x/day that gives you 5/- resist positive

That's why I said 25%... if you had 2 fire rings, dwarven fireproof, and tidal armor, you'd be 100% immune to fire.... but you'd also be short on skills and would be locked into a set bit of gear. Still...

Maybe 10% then?

i agree with jester, generic resisitance rings are not necesarry...and will aggrivate people like me, i would get all excited over finding a unique ring only to find out its a fire resist ring....pfffffft :x

Who cares? So they get immune to fire, whoopy, they have an easier time on Fire plane. Immune to fire isn't that big a deal.

Antiruby spell is the only "epic" ring I know, and as far as I'm concerned its a piece of crap.

10% resist... that's, what, 15 or 30 less damage from Harm?

There is also the Ring of Brom, which will come in handy on trips to HOD.

Building a PC is like... well... building a PC!

Sure your cpu and vidcard are only 5% fast each, but if you take all the components in your computer and boost them by 5% each, you get a noticably faster system.

Build character is the same way, little bits at a time, added up they produce an above avg PC.

% immunities stack constantly. i believe the 5/- resists don't. maybe if the resists don't it would be feasable, but not my decision on that one.

The problem with elemental resist rings (5/ etc) is that they'd effectively replace the feats... whereas % immunities do not.
