N.C wizards

I have to disagree with NC getting wizards. NC has some of the best classes to play on this server - cleric, monk, bard and (less used) COT.
Clerics are not restricted in domains like some of the other factions, monks bludgeon damage work well with the undead theme and not so well up giant mountain which is not their immediate threat, bards are useful additions to any party (NC or otherwise) and COT is damn effective if taken in post epic for any of the builds in addition on a low-magic server the bump to saves it provides is very handy.
NC dont need wizards. They dont need rogues - If you're wanting to make an epic dodge build you have an SD or a monk/SD combination at your disposal.
And while someone suggested Harpers as less useful or not worth mentioning, taken at post epic (for tumble and discipline) - I reckon they make a perfect addition to paladins (who can't take bard for tumble), dex-based fighters and rangers as well as dex-based/cha-based clerics to pick up skills in discipline on top of attribute increases.
You can make some decent chars in NC
Cleric/Monk/COT
Ranger/Fighter/Harper
Cleric/Bard/Harper
Ranger/Monk/SD
Paladin/Cleric/COT
Not to forget throwing in weapon masters PrC's as well.
I think NC is great - It needs more people to buck the relic trend and to take up the challenge rather than take the initial easy option of relic bonuses. This can also be theirs if more like-minded players build strong NC guilds. It can be done!
Where is FoN and CLAD? If they are no longer the voice for NC then call to arms is needed for fresh troops.
Cheers

well I think adding wizard would bump the population os N.C ... Harper is only allowed in L.A I thought.
I'd even settle for rogue instead of wizard ... you all know how I love building my rogues.
I left out R.K cause I thought that faction is perfect the way it is save for the classes I said should be faction only

My understanding is Harper Scouts are allowed in all factions except in SL where non-drow have to be evil. Even drow can be Harpers! Actually very useful for a Drow Cha-based Cleric or Bard I would think
I sound like a walking billboard ad for Harper Scouts! Go get yourself some lol!

That was a short-lived idea from someone from tLB that got shot down considering it would be utterly pointless. No one would think anymore of LA just because they are the only ones with Harper Scouts. Also, it would cut down the already non-existant population of resident Harper Scouts. I mean really, the only person we know of that made a Harper Scout (non-DM/Dev) was Zaranthys from The Circle...trent wrote:... Harper is only allowed in L.A I thought.

Ahhhh... let's see, where to start..?
I am sorry , Trent. Despite being my ally, I must disagree with you.
We have absolutely no need for Wizards or Sorcerers. It goes against the very grain of what we stand for.
As I look at this thread, I have to shake my head…but I find myself agreeing with (gag) BannyD and Havok. We have more power available to us than any of the other factions, in my opinion…what with the scything paladin mentioned above and the countless combinations of power-builds that have been brought up. What we lack are knowledgeable players that can take advantage of these builds (not to say that they aren’t out there, we just don’t have as many as other factions).
Keep in mind that most of our classes have epic damage reduction available, spellcraft for clerics, tumble for bards and monks, spell resistance for monks, access to all clerical domains, blinding speed, self concealment, etc., etc., etc. Oh, and we have access to Arcane Archers (through bards), who have one of the highest ABs in the game.
What we need the most is a cohesive and cooperative player base. In my opinion, any uber-cheese can be taken out with the proper strategy and a group that works well together.
My vote on wizards will always be no. It would weaken us.

I haven't said much because I've been playing this game for a couple months, compared to many of you who have been on for - what? a couple years? - so I definitely defer to those with more experience than me. Also, I'm not going to be able to play as much as I have been for a while, so I don't want to dilute the input of the people who may get teh benefits of this discussion, i.e. wizards in NC. But I have played almost exclusively NC toons, and frankly, I agree with kgb (on the other thread) and Blystos Re.
From what I've seen, the slaves and DCN seem to be successful in PvP in general and in relics in particular because they are 1) experienced and 2) very dedicated - if they are on they drop what they are doing - they ALL drop what they are doing - to defend. That's good leadership and good players. The toons that have been to me the toughest are bards, monks and PMs (yeah, I know PM is not AO). TLB, HNS, DD, whoever plays in MA, same deal, when they feel like it, but they don't have the singlemindedness of AO. There seem to be a couple of very good wizards, that I know I'm toast when they show up, but there seem to be some monks and druids in particular that are able to handle them.
I got into FoN because I like the other players , and it gave me a group to learn from and/or with. I don't have experience building toons, or playing PvP, so yeah, I don't know the tricks to make my guy stand up to the other guy, so I guess I don't expect to do real well in PvP. (I also don't have the red=dead killer instinct; seems like the guy that attacks first has the big advantage, and thats not really me, but no complaints, thats the reason for this server, and I don't have a lot of sympathy for people that compalain about PKs of any sort). I will say, I'm a heck of a lot better than when I started, both at PvM and PvP (ask the 2 1/2 slaves Pers and I toasted with the help of Time Stop scrolls heh heh heh). I may not win, but I've come dang close, and now I know I'm gonna get my licks in. I've had the satisfaction of seeing the other guy turn tail and run - with the relic, granted, maybe I'm buffed they're not, but at least they don't kill me first, cause they don't know if they can.
So between the fact that other guilds seem to do well without using arcane casters so much, and NC toons have done better of late when we try to, bottom line, looks to me like NC has the tools. We just got to get the experience and the organization.
Other bottom line, what a great world!
