New crafting upgrade option

Post by Netrom.dk »

The new part of crafting allows you to upgrade a previous crafted item to the next item tier.

But ofcouse there are somethings that need to be in order for you to do this.

You will not be able to sell upgraded items

You can only upgrade twice.

You can only upgrade Master Artisan level gear, or gear that you have allready upgraded once.

You cannot upgrade wands, scrolls, staves etc.

You can only upgrade items that you have made youself (you might not be able ot upgrade old items thought, ie. items you made a few months ago).

If you got one of the limiting classes (like Cleric, assasin, paladin etc.) you cannot upgrade items.

When you upgrade the item level restriction will be higher as the item gets better.

You must be able to use the item once it is upgrade to upgrade it. So you cannot upgrade a item the first time until you are level 24, and the second time its level 28.

You should note that this system has been tested, but it is imposible for us to test all the aspects of it, so some unforseen incidents might happen. In which case I would like to hear what it is so we can get it fixed, and I suggest that you take a SS of your item before you upgrade it and again after so I can see what went wrong.
And no we will not replace any items that might be corrupt.

Here is a taste of what the new system can do for you:

Awesome!!!

I know you might hate me for suggesting extra work, but maybe arcane crafters could have an option to recharge old wands or staves that they have crafted?

WTB high level upgraded gear on Reflections :-P

That AC +5 helm is better than *any* planar helm, including the Diver's Helmet, as far as AC goes.

Seriously, I think KST is the only guild with a serious crafting thing going there. They just got a nice boost.

Helms should have a limit of +5 AC on them - if you get a helm upgraded that has higher than that, you'll have to redo it when we fix it.

Other items probably need some limits set on them too (saves, skill boosts, etc) so we'll try and figure those out and get them in as soon as we can.

Thank you this is great, been waiting for awhile on this one. :-)

On a side note IMO crafted gear should be alittle better than the best planar gear.

It takes more sacrifice and investment than just taking your level 30 out to dwarf home and getting some +6 armor. Not much better just alittle maybe the same bonus but better resistance and such.

What do you guys think about that?

Crafted gear is not too terribly hard to get though... much less work than getting an Imbued Adamantine version of the same.

Agree adamantine is hard to find, but it cost no xp or gold to get. It cost's alot for a toon to be a crafter. Thats why you see toons devoted to crafting alone.

What we've tried to do is to have neither planar gear nor crafted gear be the best - just different and with different properties. That way, it gives you the incentive to do both.

Well, a flat +5 to ac is significantly more useful than
+4 ac, +5 vs dwarves
or
+4 ac, +5 vs outsiders

Which is what the best two planar drop helms currently are.
