To fix the lag/queue-break exploit that makes someone quick on the keys impossible to even take a swing at in melee, how about changing HIPS to not be a free action any more? The original intent of Bioware was not to make HIPS an "I can't lose" button, but that's what it is right now.
An alternative to the free action removal (which might slow it a bit too much) would also be to make it so that you had to be at least 8 feet from an enemy to activate it.
Either one's fine with me, and yes, I know, all of the Shifters who use Kobold Commando will be mad at me for this, but it needs to be fixed.
Well, I was in the Fire plane the other day, and I have some SD levels (maxed hide and move silently for my lvl), yet when I would run away so I could hide, the creatures I was trying to hide from would still follow me, even if I ran around a corner and then use hide.

Perhaps making "Hide" only usable every other round or even just once a round. It would make it similiar to Animal Empathy which will tell you that you can't use this skill for another X rounds. This would help with the Auto HiPS after every attack SDs.
the creatures I was trying to hide from would still follow me, even if I ran around a corner and then use hide.
The AI can also follow you around while invisible, and drinking an invis potion doesn't break their attack queues either. They don't stop attacking until you actually move out of range...then they just "guess" which way you're going.

hes not talking about being able to spot or hear hipsers. hes talking about the fact that merely attempting to hips in battle will clear enemy queues. this is especially useful vs mages who must lock onto you with most spells. wait till the mage starts casting the spell, attempt a hips, and the mage will stop casting.
Im tired of ppl complaining about Shadow Dancers and Rogues. Its a skill t hey have and its their only strength to hips. if they get seen they are dead, its as simple as that. they are not designed to fight a fighter or any other melee character face to face. Their only chance is sneak attacks and hips. If someone can spot them then they are dead. Take those skills away from SDs and rogues and those classes would become useless. Its the same as taking away a clerics buffs. they are useless when they have no buffs. Take away the hips the way it is now and no one will use SDs or rogues which without them would make the server boring.
I don't have a problem with the existence of sneak attacks and hips in general... the problem is that it's easy to exploit some poor programming on Bioware's part to be impossible to attack.
Do we know if the hardcoding still fires a script, maybe just the general Hide script? If so, maybe that script could be modified... a 2 second delay between hitting Hide and actually vanishing would un-break HIPSing without hurting anyone.
I believe Spotting someone breaks the action queue, too.
maybe i should start a thread whining about a PM's imun tosneak and crits, or maybe about the BG's summon... or the AA ab, or the WM crit multiplier....
and what kind of noob mage would stack spells on a player!!! specially if they are SD!!

yah i know you are not complaining about the skill in general. JUST GET SOME SPOT AND THEN YOU CAN HIT A SD. its not an exploit by no means. trust me when you hit a SD you are going to kill him thats why characters like that are weak. just stop complaining and get some SPOT.
