Parry

Post by PeregrineV »

I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how the Parry skill was broken. It seems riposte attack works, but I'm not getting the full number of parries per round I should. But, if anyone knows exactly whats wrong and can post it, I hope to build around the limitation.

Thanks.

The engine is capped at 3 parries per round and you won't parry the first three attack made against you each round, you will seemingly parry one attack per "attack phase" for lack of a better word. When making a full round attack action, your number of attacks per round are divided into three phases. If you have 4 attacks per round, your attack pattern will be, 2 attacks, 1 attack, 1 attack. If you have 5 attacks per round, your attack pattern will look like 2 attacks, 2 attacks, 1 attack, and so forth an so on as you increase your attack per round. Unfortunately, it seems parry can only parry 1 attack, 1 attack, 1 attack, so many extra attacks will blow by you saddly.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

Ok, this makes sense and explains why some hits seem to get through.

So, to show my undetstanding, if someone with 4 attacks per round attacks me, and I have 3 parries, then the 2nd attack of the first phase will be unparriable, correct?

And if parrying multiple opponents (say they each have 3 attacks), then I will only be able to parry the first such attack (most likely highest iniative) in each phase, correct?

Thanks again for the detailed, understandable explanation. :D
