Druid/Shiter help needed

Post by zerragon »

Hi, im quite new to the server, and want to create a good druid/shifter.

1) Does summon creature follow me when i shapeshift ?, if so, would it be smart to get druid spell lvl 9 to get the best summon possible ?

2) It seems like the druid/shifter has been improved alot. Is the class improved enough to stand against meelee or spell builds when it comes to PvP in the long run ?

3) As far as I understand, I have to choose "The Circle" as a shifter ?, or can I also choose the Last Alliance.

4) For the circle, do Shifters get any special benefits through jobs or other means for joining the faction ?

5) Does a druid/shifter build perform well in the epic areas of this world ?

6) Last one: Has the epic shapes been reduced in power ?, the changelog kind of gives me that impression, or are the changes IN addition to the default changes.

Thanks alot to anyone that bothers with answering my questions :D

Just dont want to make a gimp and be owned by everyone !

1) if your a druid/shifter your probably not going to focus all your energies on a summon

2)i still don't think a pure druid/shifter can stand toe to toe with a harper scout let alone a cleric, fighter, mage

3)shifters have to be from the circle

4)you are auto neutral to every "animal" in the mod. no jobs yet, soon.

5)if you build it very well it has the potential to do ok in some of the planes more than others, but you'll be looking for parties up there anyway.

6)the shifters keep getting boosts, no downs to the class as it would kill them heavily.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

Also, there were recently (within the last week) updates to the shifter, so I'm not sure anyone can answer definitively on their viability at the moment. They're certainly better than they were a week ago.

It is, however, our goal to make them a viable a class to play as any other.

1) it's unlikely you want to take 17 druid levels in a shifter build as you'll be lacking in bonus feats to get wisdom and epic shapes. in any case even the level 9 summon isn't really viable at epic levels, you really need the Dragon Knight summon, but for that you'll need 21 druid levels, and i recommend that even less (unless you've very carefully planned your wisdom progression).

incidentally, good work on the shifters so far. They may not be the best twinked out builds, but now I can play one without banging my head on my keyboard in frustration they're so much fun.

Bink, you can get 21 druid levels, but you have to wait until nearly 40 to have good shifter power to get you there.

I'm level 31, look for J'Natn in game when you're on with a similar-level character. Just let me know approximately what sort of opponent I'm going up against... shifting in combat is the quick way to death :(

I built my shifter to grow as fast as possible.

Hes Githzerai for +2 wis, so I started with 20 wis.

I managed to get a hold of a +2 wis book by lvl 20 so I took construct shape at 21.

Construct shape is awesome vs Ice giants but I dont know how well it will fare on the planes yet.

If I had managed to find a +4 wis book Id get dragonshape at lvl 24, but as I didn't its now postponed until 26 and I had to give up a couple feats to greater wisdoms for it.

I built for Wis 30 at 29, and more decent stats all around--not sure I'd do it the same way in the future but oh well. Played as caster druid through 20, then took undead shape.

Risen Lord with piercing armor can solo a lanceress and 3 dervishes at 21.

Sweet payback :)

Make a point of tagging your toon with the (TSS) tag though, so you can join our collective.

Apologies for raising an oldish thread but I am also interested in creating a shifter never having played one before.

A question that is obvious to some - if you are in humanoid shape e.g. raksasha are you able to cast druid spells? Or is there any spellcasting available at all ;) or are you limited to buff spells prior to changing shape/shifting?

Many thanks

You are limited to the spells the shape has access to.

Rakshasas can cast Ice Storm. Druids can cast Empowered Ice Storm... if you have such slotted in your quickbar (even if not memorized), then your Rakshasa shape can also cast the Empowered Ice Storm.

Thanks CrazyJ. Are there a list of spells that each shape uses - I had a look at the shifter in the Wiki but it seems only to show stats and hp increases and abilities like immunities?

Thanks
