that is one of the worst things about resting in the wild, you should be able to sneak up on someone, or atleast ambush them while they sleep. as it is now they have to be alteast half way thru their rest and you must stealth up on them, and sometimes that doesn't even work.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.
Well as a rare assassin build on NS as Omega13. I have found it nigh impossible to death attack. I'm 4 rog/6 ftr/10 assassin and when on my own I use my impr invis to make an attack - low levels were fun cos you could death attack the gargoyles as they broke on the road.
I got to frost dale and sure i can sneak up on a wolf and death attack woohoo!
I'm not even talking pvp here. If I want to raid any cities forget it because in mezzo, daeron and ns there is freedom spam everywhere.
If i want to do ice giants - i get smashed because the ice mendous have freedom and then they dispel/purge my invis and the rest is history.
So do us assassins a favour either affect the DC of our death attack vs those with freedom up so (maybe it reduces my DC by 5 or 10) I don't know or make my death attack some other form of attack like a stun/daze or something. After all, I have perfected the art of killing things yet a spell makes a lot of my prey impervious to this ability. It doesn't make any logical sense. (yeah I know it's a game and not meant to be logical
)
I think the discussion and focus is on the paralysis - i believe this to be incorrect. The fact you stand there immovable represents the massive dilemma the victim finds themself in. If i can do enough damage with my lowish ab while you are paralysed all power to me.
Perhaps we can change the attack to be REFLEX orientated. After all you are attempting to dodge my lethal and specifically-aimed attack. A DC vs Reflex would be better
I would like to see more focus on poison as well. I notice that there is not a lot of poison relative on the server to disease and so on. At low levels u worry about the ogre hunters spear and it becomes a bit thin from there. Nice Poison DC items/flasks to coat wpns like the alchemist fire etc. would be cool or conversely more assassin only gear that have poison. No one would seriously think that is overpowered lol with a heal kit able to fix it!
Well I am very interested in what is to happen with assassins. Like I said it is very difficult to level at the moment and to really maximise my skill set as an assassin.
Polar bears and wolves dont cut it any more - cant get an ice giant yet but there's still hope lol!

Perhaps this is the problem. You want to build a char that can solo everything. Don't think this is a solo mod. Get in a party where a rogue/assassin can be more effective. Rogues and assassins are not front line troops. If you want to be a lone wolf then you take the risk. Don't forget there is a difference between PvM and PvP. Monsters are predictable, people are not. This all sounds like you are trying to adjust things to suit yourself instead of adapting to the environment.

Yes, adapting is good but when that involves throwing a class on the side of the road it isn't the best. Because then we'd only have power-classes, and the server wouldn't be as great as it is today.
Lets go for a compromise, because we don't want to limit rangers anymore but making FoM worthless nor de we want to render Assassins worthless. Lowering the duration wouldn't work, because people will just rest more and extend the spell. Doing each side no good, since Assassins can't sneak up upon the sleeping due to Bioware's idiocy.
Since an Assassin's Death Attack is either succeed roll or paralyzation, perhaps when someone has FoM on they have to succeed a roll. If they do, that player/monster's FoM is disabled. After this they should have no problem. I am not adept at Assassin informatio, so if anyone up could think up what to roll for both sides be my guest. This would seem like a good solution to me, unless of course we can't alter Death Attack this way due to hardwiring (if so dam you Bioware

D/A is hard wired and only fires on the first shot, once you caught someone with FoM you wouldn't get another D/A unless you could somehow lose them.
as for me not building power builds to solo the server....i don't really build for power anymore, i build for fun. this assassin build is made for the explicit 31d6 sneak attacks i can muster up. meaning i have to spend 10 epic feats on nothing but sneaks and nothing else. this also means i went into this build knowing i could not solo anything in the plains. didn't know i would have to stay on gnolls for 8 lvls and grind out my lvl 20....guess i'll just exploit the easy xp there and figure out what to do next.
