As a Paladin I haven't really found a use for turn undead apart from fuelling divine shield/might I try using it from time to time, and it seems to have no effect.
It would be cool if it had a smilar effect to curseong, but limited to undead only or perhaps did +cha bonus * d6 damage to all undead in range. Something like that would be a great situational boost to Paladin abilities against the undead.
Turn Undead
You have to be a bit higher in CR than the undead foe as a cleric. And the paladin looses 5 lvls in comparison for turning. So I guess you have to lvl up and try it on very low foes. Of course at that point turning becomes pointless...
Besides turning does kd if succesful and some dmg if you are considerably higher than the undead. You don't make them crumble as in the original NWN game.

Yeah I know how it works, just think it would be a nice - and not hugely overpowered bonus for Paladins to have some kind of area attack on undead. Clerics get all kinds of spells that can kill undead easy, so figured tuning it to cha bonus would be fair (its tuned to that anyway I think?). With the suggestion i made, would have to blow 10 turn undeads to kill anything that gives xp so dont see its overpowered, and at the moment - unless i'm attacking CR1 skeletons it does nothing.Kirg wrote:You have to be a bit higher in CR than the undead foe as a cleric. There's a couple of places where you can go off and get a lot of exp giving skeletons, as a Paladin it's impossible for me as get swarmed, but Clerics can just deal with them easily.
It wouldnt unbalance pvp, and given the scarcity of undead in pve would be an edge for some levels.
(Cha bonus * D6 would do on average 45 damage AE to undead with my Cha bonus of 13, I think I hit them for about that much with my sword 3-4 times a round so not unbalanced)

If you look at what i'm suggesting, you can see it's not some AE ability on the same level as a Cleric that can drop all undead in 1 or 2 spells - with a high Cha it would take 10 or 15 turns to kill them all. Turn Undead isn't a spell, its an innate ability that at least for Paladins is only useful as fuel for Divine *.Cthulhu Drega wrote:paladins have bless weapon a wonderful spell for fighting undead they are not spell casters their spells are for buffing purposes you want some aoe spells vs undead make a ftr cleric
Paladins should be masters of killing undead, with disease and fear immunity, death immunity and holy weapon we are good - but this mod throws massive amounts of undead in one go and a Paladin approach to dealing with that wouldn't be overpowered.
I've heard that a 24 cleric can clear all 3 levels of the Icy Tomb, yet my Paladin / COT is lucky if she survives to the 2nd level, and certainly will die quickly on the second level having no way to kill them quickly and being unable to sustain the sheer damage output they have.
