Adamantine Gear

ummm just wondering since the change to the adamantine gear i have still found weapons with attack bonus and enchantment just asking because this gear is so hard to find and is such a shame to find one with attack bounus but no enchantment any ideas ?

I guess you are talking about Enhancement? If there are weapons with EH and AB it would really be a shame; both don't stack, although maybe if the AB is higher, it's intentional? EH would add to the damage at least.

its suppsed to be enhancement...but i believe some have attack bonus. don't hold me to it but i believe that is what they are talking about.

Please let us know of any items you find which have AB instead of AE.

This was done in error for the most part. Once we fix it I'm sure a DM would be happy to switch your weapon for a new one.

I've got at least 20 level 30 weapons with AB instead of EB, if they are used, what's the major problem with them?

Is it that the AB version not work to cut through DR??

Also, I think yesterday we found 2 or 3 that still had AB on them... but sadly, I can't remember which ones they were.

Yeah, anything you collected before we fixed the items will keep it's AB bonus instead of Enhancement. Once you get an item, it's not replaced by the fixed version we release. Which, can be problematic when you accidentally release overpowered gear...

Yeah, AB bonus doesn't apply to cutting through DR shielding, which essentially sort of renders them useless. They're better than nothing, but pale in comparison to their fixed items. Also, AB bonus doesn't dish out additional damage too.

Any golden mith and imbued adamantine gear you find off of drops *now* that doesn't have the correct props, shoot a PM to Metis, or post something here.

OK bad me apologies. I thought replacing an item because we set the wrong stats on it was different to replaceing a lost item because of a crash.

In fact it's not really a replacement, more of an exchange program.

Sorry guys I guess you just have to refind the same weapon again after the fixes.

so is that yes -- i can ask a DM to replace my messed up adamantine weps or No, they will not replace them,

....even though it was in no way the players fault that they have found a potentially uber drop that they cannot use effectivly b/c its messed up....

to get back on topic ; I did however find a light Xbow +5 on the planes last nite and it is ab

Crossbows, bows, slings, and monk gloves will all have AB on them and not enhancement - that's by design. You can't add enhancement to those items.

You really want us to be "exchanging" gear with you? I think I can hack that

As for replacing gear like that, it's not so much that we're not nice enough, but rather drawing a line in the sand showing at which point something becomes an example of diminishing gains; swapping out gear with updated versions quickly becomes a neverending job in its own right in some situations. Consider it a trade off for when we reduce the power of some items but leave the old ones in circulation, like the old Amazon Queen Axe from before the last wipe.

Well, just a silly idea to solve this problem....

Would it be REALLY difficult to make say, an anvil or forge, place it in AV (by the fire pit maybe?) which has a script that changes any generic weapon from the broken version to the proper version?

I only suggest this in the case that it would be a simple script that say, Zing could whip up in 10 mins...I know it's not a very important issue since we can go and find more, but one of my the main weapons I want to use more is the AB+6 version and it will likely be a while till i find a replacement ;(.

To make this simpler I could just make is an OnEntry script....

However this would work better if the old and new versions had different resrefs which I think they don't.

I'll look into sticking an anvil in Avendell later on.
