Whips

Post by Tibbie »

I am playing in Shadow Legion. I only found one whip sold so far in the smithy in that Menzo... town. However, the whip is a regular whip, and I do not find the enchanted or masterwork versions (while those are available for other weapons).

Are enchanted or better whips going to be available later in the game? Is it safe to plan on specializing in whips?

Thanks!

You can craft whips if you take the crafting skill, LeatherWork. At journeyman level i believe you can make a better than average whip

In NS4, is it safe enough to rely on dropped loots? Will dropped loots consider the weapon focus/specialization of the player, or is it entirely random. Do certain kind of weapon/armor types drop more often than others.

Or must one pick up a trade skills in order to ensure access to higher level items?

I hope this is not too off-topic. Other than for RP-purposes, what good are whips? They have a very low base-damage. Is the disarm feat automatic use? Do they have a longer attack range than regular melee weapons?

I think the better items will be crafted ones, so barter will be really important.

as this mod is new to everyone i belive a good paln is:
A) dont focus in any wepon for at least 3 chars
b) take wiz not sorc learn what spells are good and what are not
c) make classes that you like to play and are generic. this way you can say i dont like this or that, but i do like this
d) experiment, who cares if you decide to make a harper scout, the idea is for you to have fun. if you like to roleplay a halfling ewok, go for it. if you wanna make a barbarian druid bard in the circle go for it. just have fun.
If it says Moki Moki Moki on the Label Label Label your gonna be in Trouble Trouble Trouble!!!

I have a tendency to get really attached to my character, and I tend to take the very non-general approach. I don't know why.

I do not plan on making an uber character as I am not a power player. However, knowing that the chosen path of my character will not result in the ultimate gimp is enough to make me happy.

We had an idea in the IRC room: whips should give a bonus to Animal Empathy. Im sure Mz would love that, so she could "dominate" all the rest of the players, ehehe. Makes sense too, although i guess the point of animal empathy is its not animal slavery, but making the animal see it "your way" without the force aspect :)

I actually was under an impression that whip is the signature weapon of blackguards or drow clerics -- thus an evil weapon involving the undeads, demons, and the likes ...
