i dont think you should get all the good gear in a drop..you should have to work for the gear.

But seriously..I would be interested in Dev or DM input about this just to get an understanding on the reasoning for the lesser drops after the wipe.
It would help alot to know what the thinking is for building our characters after the wipe, other than just because Auril doesn't want us to be able to have more gear so we have to pvp more.

Next week or two don't expect too much...we have one move, two new jobs and at least one business trip among the devs. Our immediate impressions are artifacts seem too plentiful while creature specific stuff isn't dropping often enough, but we need to look at more carefully before deciding what to change.

It's true about Artifacts.. Where as I never saw an artifact drop before the wipe now I have around a dozen and a few duplicates of the same type. They are interesting to find but more from a collectors standpoint rather then actually wanting them for characters. At the same time we did a run on Amazons and ended up killing the bosses at least 5 times and never saw the Priestess or Slavemaster drop anything and the Ritualist only dropped his staff. We also got 1 set of Amazon Queen Armor, 1 Amazon Queen Axe and 5 Amazon Champion Lances and 5 sets of her Armor. It also seems that the rest of the 16th level "Imbued" gear is dropping a lot less often but at least this makes it more interesting to find since it is random and might show up just about anywhere.

Monsters that drop their own gear, rather that the radom gear has not really changed. The only real difference that comes to mind from before non beta, was the aritfacts. It was felt that the were too rare before, so drop rate was increased. However its still been fiddled with when time permits.

I have currently only found one since the wipe, but heck, I found one! I do agree, they were way too rare for items like that. You could tone it down a little bit, but I think its fine the way it is now.

Good day and what a beautiful day it is today!! :D Sorry for the conversation at hand. As Auril says
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i dont think you should get all the good gear in a drop..you should have to work for the gear.

I am not trying to butter up anyone in anyshape for form but I happen to think the drop system is at the moment alright. I dont care if a person has to sit there and go 15 times to get a particular item. Thats good business for us at DCN seeing as if we get them, then the items are that much more rare, which means costs go up and thats good for business. :D Also on a personal point I like the drop system at the moment because it also takes away the fluke factor of going and and rushing the boss and getting the items in a quick jolt and running back out. It also shows whos interested in gaining some time and effort to get the stuff as well. My 3.5 cents worth.

I agree some items where extremeley easy to attain before the wipe and artifacts, some of which are not really that good were very rare indeed.

But I think its gone to far the other way, i have found a total of 13 coffers already, 2 suits of the mountain warmth plate, 1 suit of mountain storm armor (the ugly one lol) the mummy rot heavy flail, an infernal [censored] sword, a +2 str book of exercise and 2 rings of defence ( whoa i think thats all ) so a total of 8 artifacts and 13 coffers

Some places drop rates are really turned down while others are the same as before. I did 1 single sweep of sanctum arcanum and got a whip, the rapier, the arcanum large shield, the loremaster tunic, and some imbued mith dexer boots. While i messed around inside sunken top and city and got 1 set of nettled kelp armor and tidal lords shield hammer and armor - the regular fisherman and huntresses and the imperials sages etc dropped absolutley nothing and were slaughtered in numbers (these used to drop several usefull helms wpns gloves sythes axes)

Just an observation to help out those tinkering with the system :-)

Well that's interesting, I've leveled a total of 67 levels over multiple toons so far, and I do check every loot pile.

I have found only 5 coffers, and my trip to sunken (with 1 other person) gave me 6 merfok gloves, many spears, a katana, 2 full sets of grand mystic gear minus 1 staff, tidal lord helm an shield, 3 sets of highlord armour and helmets, 3 rapiers of pain, 2 storm axes, some arrows of storm, and pretty much every 'boss' dropped something unique, even snagged a few of the artifacts i mentioned earlier in this thread...

Question: Were you solo? or with someone? Were you in a party but only you were in sunken? I have a feeling that party size or proximity to party members has an effect on % drop, at least it did seem that way right before the wipe.

OR it's all just totally RANDOM, you can't use a single experience to determine % you need many many results with accurate related modifiers (if any, like level, party size, etc..).

I have to say that the idea of the drop percentage changing with party size and xp is a wonderful idea. I hope that is the case, but I fear that it may not be.
