haste
I can understand, and I wish i had haste on some of my boots, just to make things go quicker and to explore more, but then again....walking around allows me more time to memorize what is going on in each area. By forcing me to go slower, im also forced to learn quick ways of travel, and memorize them so that i don't have to wander around figuring out where the heck I am.
The Dev's made a good decision on this one. Haste should be put on things sparingly so as to increase teh value of those items.

I've tried fire, i've tried faith, and i've tried force, all I have left is hope.

Aha. Wasn't certain about that. In that case, it's PRECISELY like the 3.5 PnP version of Haste.Joran wrote:Correction: You do receive an extra melee attack, you just don't receive a full partial action. Haste was meant as a melee buff, anyway
It's still useful for a caster, just not as over-the-top as it was.

so if im playing a wizzy, and i cast haste...can I cast a spell AND make a melee attack in the same round? or is the extra melee action only granted if you are not casting spells? if not, haste is worthless to cast on yourself in battle.

No need to go foaming at the mouth, now. Roll a d20 or something, and calm down.QuickLightning wrote:NS3 has NOTHING TO DO WITH NS4, DO NOT COMPARE THEM!
I played NS3 from December 02 until Tab called it quits with the Cali server and went onto trinity. After trinity 2 came out I went to some other servers and then to RP servers and im DAMN glad I did. You ignorant NS3ers are SO BLIND to the feeling of earning your characters abilities that you don't see how good earning haste is. It's such an anchievement that it actually MEANS something.
He was comparing a distance run with and without haste, using a point-to-point reference from NS3. He was not comparing NS3 to NS4.

I like to earn my chars too, but I don't have much time during the week to play. I like being able to get a level or 2 everytime I play. The big problem I think in NS is that at low levels there is nothing to do. Now I'm using NS3 as the example here, Until you hit at least lvl 15, all you were really doing was trying to get to those lvls. I think with the jobs and maybe some mid level quests and bosses, people would take the time to enjoy the game a little more.
yea yea!

It's not precisely not 3.5 in that respect... but NWN was never coded to do partial actions properly. Haste is only "worthless" to cast on a mage if all you're after is a second spell per round. the +1 to AC, AB, ref save, and the running speed boost. Isn't that speed boost what you all are whining about? heh.sep caldessian wrote:im still confused, and i do not have a 3.5 PHB handy...

+1 AC --- no big deal, i have shield and mage armor, cats grace, and will get better AC spells (shadow shield, premonition) as time goes on.
+1 AB --- no big deal, if and when a +1 to AB is really going to affect my caster, id much rather use a true strike for a +20. not to mention cats grace or bulls strength will raise the AB (and AC and reflex save w/ CG) for a much longer time.
speed boost? ha. expedious retreat is a 1st level spell.
so basically haste - to a caster - is a watered down cat's grace and an expedious retreat. unless you want to keep one in reserve for your armored meat shield
i think it is a good balancing act, however. with no perma- items, casters have a leg up on meleers. just hope one of your faction mages keeps a slot open for your haste spell

i can already see casters do this in a battle:
cast, run around the tank, cast, run around the tank, cast, run around the tank. ROFL

Well I put today 10 haste slots on my wizard memory and I boosted through the landscape like a rocket to reach a friend in trouble hehe. Well we died both afterwards (dang crash dead) but it was a lot of fun. I actually only used 4 hastes. As each casted haste was enough for two areas (wizard lvl11 at that moment).
I still have to check on a summon and party member who tank if haste really would be worth casting in a fight. But I dont think so. I rather cast some offensive spell or other buff now.

Haste
Well, if we are talking PnP, they also balanced out the nerfing by making it effect multiple targets again asper PnP and doing away with Mass Haste.
Any chance of that happening?
Also, if there are no haste items, great, big deal. But how `bout some Expeditious Retreat Items? Or perhaps extending the duration of that spell.
