concerning crafting...

Post by Mr. O'Dearly »

suppose you made a fighter for crafting weapons.

suppose you leveled them up to lvl 19 and achieved Master Artisan in weapons crafting.

Then suppose you died a bunch and lost a lvl, or four, would you also lose Master Artisan weapons crafting?

If this does work, is it considered an exploit?

I would think that if you were to die you would loose all things associated with that level....and as far as exploits go .....maybe your fighter thought he was fat and decided his life was not worth living..... thus he charged naked into the giant caves a bunch of times

I believe you don't lose crafting levels that have already been gained.

But I've tried it before and take my word for it — trying to lose several levels can get VERY tedious.

I have not lost and crafting or job points when a character has lost a level. It would seem the points may be maintained in a separate database from the xp.
Mr. O'Dearly, for clarification when you talk about exploit, do you mean that the person loses the class levels needed for master artisan and then relevels in a class (say cleric) that has a limit on crafting abililty? The result is you now have master artisan character with a limited class (e.g. Ftr/Cleric, Ftr/Rog).

For future improvements to crafting sake, I would suggest not doing that...

Besides, who in their right mind would delevel themselves 4 levels just for some cheese? I mean really, deleveling can almost be as hard as leveling lol.

Don't some of the chests take away levels permanently? I thought I read it somewhere... but was not looking carefully because losing levels on purpose is not my intended goal. :)

Its "permanent" only in a sense that a cleric must remove it or you die. If you die it goes away.
