Best Way to learn this mod

Post by Razarr69 »

I am an avid player on NS3.5 and I know that mod fairly well. But I would like to start learning this mod as well. It apparently is not as Uber geared as NS3.5 and more role-play oriented. But I have found it hard to get along thus far, generally I have found myself stuck trying to scrap out a meager existance solo. I made a Dragonkin ton and have never seen anyone for 5-6 levels. Last night I saw my first PC with a Shadow Legion toon I was trying out.

My queston is this, what would be the best area to get started quickly? I would like to see some people to group with. Last night the people I saw were kind enough not to kill me as they were raiding "my" city. Thanks :?

That said, is there a easier place for a lowbie to find some comradiere?

The last alliance is the intended starting place for people new to the server. To me it seems one of the easiest places to level, its got good jobs to get you started, its pretty close to everything, and its easy to find a group being so close to avendell.

After you learn your way around the server you may want to try out some of the cooler factions such as Ragnar's Kin  .

Welcome, Razarr. You have started out the right way, imo. Now, you will appreciate the abilities of a build from low levels. Changes things a bit , eh? I would recommend RK if you like playing dwarves or gnomes. You can level up fairly easily just by doing the job, and your bound to run into a somebody to help you out. If you like other races, then LA is your place. They are usually very helpful to new players there.

See you in game, oh, btw, any build is viable here. Have fun!

Don't start out with mystral ascendancy, slow to start and farther away than most other places from avendel.

Send a shout looking for a group. If nobody is in your area, maybe one of the players who is in your faction or allied can at least party with you and talk you through any questions you have. Check by sending a tell.
Most players are happy to help out new folk, and since you know the general layout from 3.5, helping won't even be that hard! :D

It has been said already, and i will say it again.... Last Alliance is the best noobie-interfaced faction, easy to navigate, etc.... 8)

I'll try put in a list for easy to hard factions.
Last Alliance - Easiest (obvious reasons)
Ragnars Kin - Easy (beetles are plentiful and provide quite the xp along with two great jobs)
Shadow Legion - Easy/Medium (quite the player interaction along with relic bonus)
Daeron - Medium (jobs and outposts all over the place)
Ancient Ones - Medium/Hard (one "job" and seperated, however two guilds along with slave allies)
The Circle - Hard (relatively seperated but from players and civilization and everything so don't know what to say)
Mystral Ascendancy - Hardest (so seperated and confined in many ways, this faction is the ultimate test for any player's sanity :D ).
Just my vague ideas, I'm sure some factions are interchangeable on the list.

I'd Switch the circle and Mystral Ascendancy. The circle may be closer to Avendell but if you dont know the server it could take you quite a while to actually find your way there.

Mystral Ascendancy has two jobs and it could just be my imagination but its always seemed to me that their rats and beetles are easier than everyone elses... Ive only had two characters from MA and both took the ferry outta there as soon as they could but low level leveling was easier.

The basilisks and other such stoners aren't too hard to take care of if you've got a summon. Just let the chicken go in first.

That kind of info would have been great when I first started off on this server. Anyway to my point. AO rules. AO rocks AO is the shizziest place going. But the breathe attacks on the rats can and will kill you till you have no exp and or money to do anything with. It can be frustrating. I also believe that MA is really difficult too because of them stupid mephits that you gotta catch. sheeesh thats annoying. Also far away from avendell. Fats you so smart..... wait whats that smell?
